that is ridiculous.
A Hyundai S550? Mercedes 2010 (or 09) S550's were never $45k, the base was $85k. Today, used they go for $60k. But the depreciation isn't any better, $85k in 2010 and $60k now = $25k in depreciation in 2 years. Worse yet, a friend has an S600 with the Lotus air suspension, a car that was something like $120k in 1998, today's value.....about $8k and that's with a full tank of gas and four new ($2200) tires. S&EC called it the closest car they can find to 100% depreciation. A Renault Le Car fared better after 15 years of service!

Tax and 1st year depreciation on the C63 will probably cover the cost to fix the 928 and supercharge it.

Best of luck,
This one expresses my sentiments perfectly. The hp difference between the C63 and 928 is not what is making me consider changing. In the end I am not racing anyone and the 928 has plenty of horsepower and speed potential for my needs. The other item I was not considering is that the 928 is my hobby. Being a mechanical engineer I am a gear head at heart. When the list helped me through getting the A/C charged properly I had a tremendous sense of accomplishment and really enjoyed the next drive in total comfort. My 7 year old son helps me change oil and the like so he is learning to love cars as well. 9 more years and 944 is his and it is perfect with 155K miles. Not sure the Mercedes will deliver that aspect of ownership.

They probably have a 2007 and purchased it used for $45K. $19K is a lowball trade in uless it has serious issues or mega high mileage. Then again, if they purchased for $45K two years ago, it probably had really high mileage when purchased.

To the OP - if you are selling your 928, what's the asking price?

Well said, sir. I've been hanging on to my GTS for just this reason.

Well the whole point of the post is contemplating taking a decision on whether to sell it or not. If I sell it I would ask $10K. I am leaning towards keeping it. Drove it twice today and the A/C is blowing snow at me and it is running really good. A friend brought over a Carrera GTS yesterday for me to drive and I have to say it is a really nice car but I like the 928 just as much and I am more comfortable in the 928 - I am 6'4" and the 911 is really cramped.

I vote for the Mercedes with 11k down ($8k for the S4 + the 3k on parts) and Mercedes financing at 1.99% for 66 months your payment would be about $600per month.

Warranty until 100k
451 horsepower
Comfort, Sport and Manual modes
0-60 under 5 seconds.

Yes this is definitely the other side of the argument. Money wise you could also argue that if you put $4500 into this one you end up with no payments; which is actually a bigger consideration for me than the difference in performance. Drove the 928 this morning and it really feels like a new car with all the work I have done. Everything is tight and the steering is precise. Very loud though which can be much improved with tires. I am running Yokohamas that are very loud.

Hi Guys,
I decided to sell the 928. Wanted to give the list the first dibs on the car. 1st post tells the story on the car. Anyone interested? If not I will probably eBay it. Would really like it if the car went to someone who would appreciate it.

Jeff.

Buy the Benz, fix your 928 and sell to me and then I'll keep you posted on how much fun I'm having!

Your 6'4" and you want a little C Class? Go back a few years. You can "Buy it Now" a 16,784 mile 2005 SL AMG 55 hard top convertible on ebay for only $ 39,995. This is a super car and you will have no headroom issues. At that price you can keep the 928. Your welcome. T

Pictures were requested. I didn't have time to clean it up. Its all dusty but you can see that the paint is in really good condition even though it is really dusty. I will give a really good price to a rennlister!

Both Chuck Zachman and myself have had one of these and we are both big fans.

Hi Mark,
Actually I drove a 2010 M3 the other day and I have an itch. I like the M3 better than the C63. Really fun car and well executed.
