Default The 209.9 mph Beast for Sale

I am retiring in January and after a lot of serious thought I am going to sell the Beast.

Current top speed on the car is 209.9 mph. The engine has over 500 rwhp and over 500 ft/lbs of torque on the dyno. A lot of folks on Rennlist have seen and riden in the car. Everything is strickly first class. The car has Forgeline wheels, Penske Shocks, Michelin PS2 tires, ATC fuel cell, Fire supression system in the cabin, full cell area and under the hood, Momo quick detach steering wheel, professional hard wired intercom system, Cool suit system, full cage and Schroth racing harnesses. I know I have forgotten a lot of stuff in the car, but hopefully you will get the idea.

We have never had a failure to finish a race (other than some red flag accidents). I hope that it would stay in the ORR community but that would be the buyers choice. Any of the spares, safety equipment including Hans device and helmets and fire suits, clothing, etc, and parts up to and including the trailer and tools are on the block. The price for the car is $60,000. I will keep it exclusive to Rennlist for a week or two then put it on Ebay.

We can negotiage any of the other things you may need or want. If you stay in ORR I will fully train (if that is worth anything to you) you if requested and give all of my ORR notes and calculations, spreadsheets, GPS, etc.

A little history of the car.
The “Beast” is a 1988 Porsche 928 S4. We purchased the car in 2005 specifically as an Open Road Race car project. Stage one of it’s transformation included a specially built motor by Marc Thomas. The all aluminum V-8 is 6.4 L that produces over 500 RWHP and 500 lb ft of Torque. The suspension has been rebuilt and Penske dual adjustable shocks control the wheel movement. Everything imaginable has been inspected and replaced if the slightest wear was detected. Stage one ended in March of 06 and we competed all season in the 155 mph class. The car performed extremely well and the car trophied in 3 of it’s 4 starts.
Stage two started in Sept of 2006. The goal was to complete the transformation to the Unlimited Class and install all of the mandated safety equipment to pass tech inspection for the 200 mph (Unlimited) class. One of our requirements for the finished product was to have a 200+ mph race car that Cheryl and I could drive on the street. DEVEK took on the task of designing and installing a full race cage, fuel cell, fire suppression system, cooling mods and a driver cool suit system. The car was then lowered and aligned for high speed use. A front spoiler was custom made for the car and an adjustable wing was fitted.Forgeline speced and built some wheels that were approved for 200 mph+ runs. In 2010 the car went back to Marc Thomas for a complete
inspection and replacement of all worn parts and fittings. The spring rates were changed and the shocks were re-valved. The car currently has no deferred maintenance.

Good luck with the sale Tim, I know that couldn't have been an easy decision.

Are you and Cheryl going to stay in the Tahoe area?

Amy says hi!

Could you use an extra left arm? Maybe a kidney or two? I would just die to have that car. Some toys are just out of reach for some of us. Good luck with your retirement. I have my doubts that anyone with a 209+ in his blood can put it away completely and walk away. I would love to see one 200+ before closing my eyes for the last time. It just a beautiful car and I would love to have all the photos you are willing to share before she sells. Maybe she will

I have driven this car, although not over 130 or so - just loafing along. I can tell you for a fact that this is the most COMFORTABLE 928 I have ever driven. It's not just ridiculously stable at high speed, it is remarkably comfortable absorbing bad pavement just cruising around town. And the roll cage is so well integrated into the car that it retains the full dash and door panels, so the interior is not trashed like most race cars. The pictures Tim posted show this pretty well.

Can you imagine taking this car to the Autobahn and the Nurburgring and seeing what it could do? This is what the 928 could have been had Porsche gotten a bit more serious. I'd love to own it. Once I get divorced it could become a reality.

IIRC, it was Cheryl who made that 209.9 run.

No offense taken. Fact is it is one of the fastest cars in ORR. It is also streetable as folk know that came to sharks at the lake.

What's the point? This isn't even a 928 any longer...too many mods..it's a shell with hi-po parts

Can you say "Middle Age Crazy"

Seeing Bill's comments on the ride quality, I wonder if it could be duplicated on other 928's. I see mention of Penske shocks, but wonder about the specific settings and spring setup?

That's a lot of car for the money. One should factor in the tremendous amount of time that went into perfecting the setup when considering its true value. That alone is worth big $$$. GLWS!

I remember drives during Sharks at the Lake, hearing and seeing the Beast tearing off into the Nevada hills.
Tim: Congrats on your impending retirement. What they did not tell me about retirement is how tough it is on 928's. I have been retired for sixteen months and sold two of them.

This is no shell. Put the stock seats back in and you'd hardly know it wasn't totally factory, although the Nascar exhaust note kinda gives it away.
