Just received my carbon/leather automatic shifter **** from Jager.

Looked good, smelled good, feels good, however.....

The carbon fiber top was poorly glued, lifts slightly near the hole for the button rod.

The entire **** is loose from the mounting collar, I can spin the **** around (yes the three set screws are secure, it spins on the secure collar), as well as when I press the actuator button, the **** lifts up.

I installed it, for now, and it works and is nice looking. Only issues are the glue/adhesive used.

Since I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it, etc., I will fix it myself using my own selected glue.

Anyone had any issues with the quality control of the priducts offered from Garage 9/Jager?

I found the materials to be somewhat weak in some spots as well:

The push down shaft wound up being a 1/4 inch short from releasing the parking switch.
Also the push button shaft itself seemed to have weak glue and came apart from the button and the magnet when pulled lightly. I wound up stuffing the magnet side with some material to space the magnet a little to give some clearance for the button to push, then gorilla glued the magnet and button to the shaft.
I also had a problem with the pinching allan screw stripping the metal out of the **** collar at the bottom after tightening it to a decent level, wound up having stuff the collar with rubber to keep it tight. Havent had an issue afterwards.

The Garage 9 installed on the 86.5 is pretty nice. Beats the OEM alternative replacement T-Handle $$$. T

I have an older **** that I have had no problems with. I'd at least give Paul & his company your feedback. I'm sure he would fix it for you, but I understand the practical advantage of fixing yourself if you can.

I put on the carbon fiber/leather shift **** a couple years ago. No problems.

It sounds like yours has some sort of manufacturing defect. Have you contacted Paul or Veronique at Jager/Garage 9?

Yes I have by email late yesterday. I'll fix it myself I guess.

BTW looks and feels 100% better than the old T-handle.

So you contacted them after business ours and are making this statement before open of business the next day....

How fast of a response do you expect? 24-48 hours or 1-2 business days (excluding weekends) should be more than acceptable.

Fully agree with that. The T-handle is cumbersome if you like to row the shifter. Paul's shift handles make this so much smoother. These are the first complaints I have seen about Paul's products, so I suspect his sub who assembles the handles may have messed up recently. Paul needs to know, so I'm glad to hear you sent him an email. I have had one of his earliest handles in my car for over 10 years.

I also have had one for the past three years with no complaints. Took a few trys to get the set sccrews tight enough with the top button in the right spot but that was more me being careful not to over tighten.

I installed one many years ago, and it too came apart soon after installation and needed to be glued back together. I did the same. Rather than send it back (because I really liked the product and continue to enjoy it now after all these years), I just glued it back together. It has been trouble free since. I hadn't heard of anyone having a similar issue, so I didn't mention it to Paul. Figured I just received one that didn't get enough glue on the production line.
Re-glue, enjoy (for many years to come).

Hmm no reply or acknowledgement of product defect in 2 days!

Funny when I ordered and sent payment I had quicker reply..well

Good thing is I won't deal with Jager/Garage 9 again as their products look cheesy with the chrome, whatnot......prefer the subtle black or monotone colors.
