Half shaft failure
Hmmm. can't understand it. I had a half shaft, passenger side, fail in a parking lot in Indy on Wednesday evening. Had to AAA it home to Muncie and replaced it on Thursday afternoon. Fortunately nothing else was damaged. I'm now in the market for a couple of half shafts in good condition, good deal of course. ;-)
I do have one left, but you just never know when you'll need one. ;-)

If your running boosted then swapping in fresh CVs isnt a bad idea,
putting hi mile used units into service here could lead to more costly failures
IOW like the brakes going cheapo isnt a good idea

More details......I have NEVER heard of the actual axle breaking...even on very powerful race cars.....CV failure is common & I also heard of the 6 allen bolts backing off, then breaking....

It was the CV
Sorry to put a scare into everyone, but the CV basically exploded. Lots of giant bulges around it. ;-)
I think it must have been a weather condition. I can't imagine that anything else would have caused it. :-)

I'd also love to see some pics.
The only time I had a CV 'explode' was in a Cobra, it had EMPI (chinese) parts and I could see from the pieces that the cage was improperly made and the ***** split it apart.
I'm really surprised to hear about this in a Porsche, are you sure these are original parts? Remanufactured?

After installing SC into one automatic S4 first test drive was around 50 meters long. ***** fell of from CV joint and that was end of SharkTuner tuning session. There were no explosion but they fell on to street so it was easy to say without looking what was the problem. Car barely managed to limp back to garage on remaining intact shaft so we did't have to tow it. Before when engine had normal 320hp NA setup joints were known to be worn but didn't seem too bad at all when driving.
