Race Car
Here is my list,
- It's my dream car from childhood.
- Not too hard to work on, this is my 4th hands on car and it is just complex enough to offer a challenge.
- It offers and I have enjoyed a great community.
Coulda bought a 964 C4 which felt great at the time but have an Evo X now so the AWD itch is gone as I feel I have the best of both worlds now.
Still want a Guards GTS 5spd, black and tan, so I am not done. Until then I will keep learning, fixing and saving.

My dream car when I was 20-22. Bought it as a reward for graduating college. Now 15 years later I don't want to sell because of the memories and emotional connection. Also not worth selling at this point to be frank. Unfortunately the tastes have gone up with time.

It was the ultimate practical supercar when I was younger. My brother and I always argued over which was better the 928 or BMW 850. I hadn't seen one for ages when i saw one for sale. I couldn't believe the prices so I decided to fulfill my dreams from my youth. They are rare, exoctic yet somehow practical.
Besides they are just too cool.

- I wanted to buy a German sports car
- I wanted a car with a powerful V8
- The 928 is a great looking car with timeless styling and modern features
I did not buy my 928 as an investment, and I always find the threads regarding the price trends of our 928s interesting. The way that I look at it, if our cars double in price in the next two years, I will be happy in the knowledge that if I do decide to sell I can recover what I have put into my car and maybe make a $ or two. If our 928s depreciate by 50% over the next two years, I would probably start to search for another. Either way I win.

The 928 was not my dream car. My dream cars were mid-engined Italian exotics. I schemed for years on how I was going to get a Pantera. Remember when the 928 came out and saw it in Road & Track... meh...
Still wanted a Pantera, but dreamed of owning a Ferrari. Always read Road & Track, especially the Sports & GT Guides. Took note of the S4 when it came out and how it was the 3rd fastest production car in the world at the time (behind the Testarossa and Countach). Still wanted a Pantera or Ferrari, but one day saw an S4 with 5 spoke aftermarket wheels at the mall and it really looked hot... made mental note. Life happens, got married, had 3 daughters, daughters grew up and I was ready for a sports car again. Enter my friend Deano who had Ferraris (348 & a TR) and a beautiful black 5-spd. S4 and he strongly encouraged me to get a 928 with a 5-spd. Said you could not beat it for bang for the buck and I'd be driving a supercar. After a year of hunting found my GT at the local Porsche dealer of all places and the love affair grew and is still growing... but I'd still love to have a Pantera and a 308/328... and keep the GT if possible... maybe someday.

Why 928? Mainly 'entry' price. I'd love to have some fancy 911 one day, until then its 928. I do have to admit though, it grew on me a lot since I bought it. I wish I bought GT, but alas - it was more then what I had on hand at that time and I did not want to be stuck with extra monthly payments...
