It's not that at all, it's that every work around, cheat, cheap fix has been tried and people are trying to give you the proper advice. It's your option to actually listen to it and use it.

I suppose it's all been done...

I'm going to go with a good condition used unit. That's it that's all. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Nothing wrong with trying to find a cheaper solution IMO if its done right. I was in this boat with my 944 Turbo. Bought a griffin radiator for a fraction of the cost of a new one it will probably be the last radiator that car will ever need. If the one in my either of my 928's goes bad I'll probably have griffin make me a replacement!

Griffin radiators if the cheap universal racing one has a 30 day warranty, the custom unit is two years but note that a rad for a Jeep Cherokee is about $600 with no oil coolers/trans cooler and notes that minor modification may be needed to fit. A search on Griffin as one would expect finds happy customers as well as some very unhappy ones whose experience was not what they expected.
The ONLY complaint people have about the Behr is really the cost , some bag on the plastic tanks but only because they leak in 15-20 years but even they are easily replaced at nominal cost. Someone mentioned the motor mount and the Volvo substitute good to remember the mixed results with the Anchor Ford units which too seemed like a very good idea at the time until the quality design changed and a number of people got to redo the motor mounts far sooner than they ever wished.
Good high quality substitutes are going to become a necessity for these cars as more and more parts are no longer being made or simply get to be "too expensive". Figuring out what is good and high quality however is often the hard part when you lack the knowledge, experience, and assets of a Porsche. Who knows how much design, engineering, and testing goes into something as simple as a motor mount ? Far more than just it bolts in place and holds up the engine. Some think wedging a floor mat under the oil pan is a "fix" for collapsed mounts which transfers all that vibration and load to the cork oil pan gasket.

All the 928s are now old cars being at least 17 years old and some more like 34 and lots of stuff needs to be replaced if it is to run as designed and be reliable. If you are not spending a couple hundred a month on one you are just not keeping up and if you buy one that was neglected for a few years just add on about $2,400 for each of those years !

A guy from rennlist handled the group buy. We shipped a stock radiator to griffin and they made the mock up with all the correct factory mounting tabs. Took them a few tries to get it perfect before it went into production but the final shipped product was exactly that perfect! I bet we could do the same thing with our 928. Probably need 20 people to start.

Have sense of humor. I thought it was pretty funny.

Have at it with that Summit radiator. I'm very interested in how it turns out.

If you ever get this going, I'm in for one - mine has been repaired before and it's only a matter of time until I will get to replace it (not really high on my list at the moment, but it is there to be eventually replaced).

I would love to. To many projects going on right now. Maybe once I finish a few of them (partying a S4 and finishing my intake refresh) than I'll see about doing it.

Here's a different bit of insight. I work at above stated high performance retailer that sells that aftermarket radiator. I get that radiator at cost. (Great company, great prices.) I also own a 928. You won't catch that radiator in my car.

I will only use a new or rebuilt Porsche "magic beans" radiator in my car. Just my opinion. I did buy the 19lb injectors from work, however. I will also buy tires here.

When it comes to cooling that all aluminum masterpiece of an engine, I just can't take any chances with a non-application specific radiator, personally.

Well, i pulled my motor against everyone's advice on here. Past experience should dictate future ones... so maybe i should go with an aftermarket rad... Hahaha. Not sure yet, probably going with a good condition used unit.

Enough corrosion in the radiator to make it leak, you may want a look at the heads.

BTW your going to love the canister vent valve.
control valve.
This fits your Porsche 928.

A radiator isn't rocket science! Curious why you wouldn't go with an aluminum radiator made by a well known manufacture who makes quality products?

Who do you work for? (you can PM me if you like)
