No time to read entire post.
I will have a radiator from an 84 auto if it will work for you.
No leaks.
Will be taking it out of the car for all aluminum swap next weekend.
PM if you are interested.

Some of the early aftermarket aluminum rads were made with much smaller internal heat exchangers inside the end tanks. Had the same fittings but you had to destroy one to see inside and then the difference was obvious. Making after market stuff is easy just ask the chinese, if it LOOKS like a water pump it must be a water pump

If your existing isn't leaking, leave it alone. Why? Look for the post I've started on this.

I used to go with Modine, but when I checked last year they no longer sell automotive products. Nothing left except custom and imports (plant may be in USA, parts are all from China).

Can anyone tell me if an all aluminum radiator can be rebuilt? Nothing is leaking but my car runs rather hot after a good track session.
IIRC - it is an old Devek radiator.
TIA

I tried to rebuild mine, they removed the tanks, cleaned the surfaces and reassembled. It still leaked and they said it would only get worse. Contact Seattle Radiator, they had the CAD drawings and built me a trouble free rad for under $600.00. This includes tanks and mounting frame. They used my coolers for my 88 auto. They also crimp the tubes for hot rod cooling. Brass and copper construction. Fit like a glove!

My 928 Motorsports radiator has performed flawlessly for years, rarely shows above the first mark on the temp gauge. It was not cheap, but all AL.
BTW, how can your radiator "rust"?
AL radiators don't rust, so is it corrosion, or what?
I agree that the "price" on many 928 parts seem high, but the actual cost, amortized over the useful life of the car, is really quite small.
"Price" does not equal "cost"over the life of the car. This takes a little thought.

Some seem to have an interesting compartmentalization going on inside their brains. On one side they drive the flagship top of the line most expensive (for the time) Porsche supercar love telling any and all who might listen yes fastest production car in 1987, 170 mph awsome performance, handbuilt , and on the other parts cost too much. And those two opinions never clash
