Question 944 Speedo instrument for 928

Dear 928-enthusiasts,

just a small question : can I use the Speedometer of a 944 on my 928 ?

I mean, only the Speedometer unit...are the connections the same ?

My 928 is an early type of 1980.

thanks for any feedback

Gerrit

I and others have. I used 86 944 170MPH to replace MY 81 85MPH.

FWIW the gears are different in the 944 VS the 928,
but if the speedo reads correctly then the 944 gears may just be required for the 944 unit

Which gears? for the odometer? I am exempt anyways and my current 85mpg doesn't register mileage..the speed measure should be ok?

not sure if it would work, the speedo in my 944 has the typical threaded connection for the speedometer cable as well as a sensor for the gauge that measure fuel consumption in mpg. the speedometer can be removed as a cluster unit or as an individual pod.
