I'm surprised nobody else noticed - you are one crazy dude...
Try to hang on to reality here... you have just about the most desirable options going and you are already thinking about downgrading...
Unfortunately the RDK sensor system is crap even when its working exactly they way it was designed to... disable and if desired add a modern wireless TPMS....
Wanting rub strips might be an illness - not sure...

Steve's GTS is a beautiful example; if he absolutely needs rub strips, he can always "stick-on" a set that can later be removed by the next (sane) owner...
Steve: Get Tony's strips and have them painted. I'll be happy to help you install the strips exactly in factory position! (but without drilling holes)

Hello everyone,
Thank you for the input. I actually realized I did not post any interior shoots.
The GTS does resemble " the Flyin Scotmans " recent acquisition in Canada.
Malcom indeed they could easily be cousins. I did contact the PO and he mentioned someone was looking at it that weekend. Perhaps that was you?!
FYI;
I did go into to hyper mode and ask my three auto broker friends if they have had any experience in bringing a Canadian car accross the border. The census was don't do it. According to one even the Mercedes Line is very~very~very difficult to bring into CA. And considering Mercedes in general has one engine for the world, unlike Porsche for example. Not sure how accurate his statement is. Considering they have Benz dealership and will never repeat that mistake. One said it's easier if an early 60's vehicle. In short I gave up that idea. Yes! Malcom you have the GTS I want. We do have the same interior. It would be nice (for me) if it ever crosses over to CA. :0)
Tony I PM'd you about the rub strips you have.
Not to worry I may be a tad sick/ insane as Alan eluded too, but I will not be drilling holes.
I see that I posted my former s4, instead of the GTS on my $3,200 mistake of a fork lift /car lift. Well ! on the plus side I can move it around my backyard and plug into any 110 outlet. If you see the carlift on Craiglist for half off you will know its me. I hope get rid of it soon and opt for the traditional two postlift.
I will post some pics of the interior and engine bay, hopefully over the weekend. I may have a leather restorer come by for an estimate on the side bolster and shifter boot. Or perhaps buy a new shifter boot. I meet him ( Harvey ) thru the kindness of Nicole.
Bill I may take you up on your offer in disabling the RDK unit.
I will call you.
Thank you all for assisting me.

Perhaps one should mention that the S4 that you see on Steve's lift has since been upgraded with a big stroker and roll cage, and has done quite well in Open Road Races in Nevada... Not too long ago, a little birdie tweeted into my ear that it might be for sale again in its current configuration.

Greetings to 928 & RL enthusiast's,
Thought I would share a dream come true.
I finally acquired my first GTS. I once had a 88s4.
THANK YOU NICOLE FOR MAKING IT POSSIBLE.
The GTS is a 93 in Polar Silver, 5spd w/ two tone gray interior.
VIN# WPOAA292XPS820148
Ownership of car confirms that I truly luv the GTS. I do see myself owning another one. And letting this one go. The current owner (me) has personal issues. I would rather be the gate keeper to a GTS with rub strips, yes rub strips, not a typo.
Before I start receiving hate mail please give me some credit. Unlike a child refusing to eat his veggie before even trying it. I have tried and truly know I prefer the rub strips, over the highly desirable rub strip delete optioned 928's.
In retrospect, I missed my opportunity to acquire Jim Morton's black/cashmere five speed GTS a few years back. It was only forty minutes from home.
His GTS is tastefully modded with rub strips.
....its a Live and Learn moment.
Realizing the rarity of a manual GTS. I cannot be too picky.
While I have my current GTS I do plan on enjoying it. Mileage is approaching the 100k. T-belt, H2o pump, suspension, brakes, clutch, PSD, and ancillary components have been recently serviced
Currently the most pressing issue is worn rear tires. This is the ideal time to powder coat the rims back to OEM state from the polished look.
Tire pressure monitor acts up randomly, unless I pressurized tires above 55lbs, which is not advisable
I rather install the 94~95 cup ( II ? ) wheels, but who has a set for sale that is true 928 cups?
Attending SITP2011 was educational. Those who viewed the car said it is "as original as it gets." I even learned about the identifying a well cared for GTS from the un-tampered decals, hoses, hoses clamps, radiator & pliable wiring harness with factory labels. Several suggested a good detail, wheels repainted to factory color, driver side seat bolster be mended, along with shifter booth replacement due wear on the leather ****.
I do plan on letting go or trading the car with a comparable GTS 5spd with rub strips. I am open to tastefully modded GTS's. I even like Chucks GTS
that he recently sold. It is the quintessential GTS brought to perfection ( IMO ).
And Chuck's GTS does not even have rub strips.
I would like to replace the insulated intake runners. The foam is deteriorating.
Upgrade to the 94~95GTS Wheels.
Figure out whats the best solution for the tire pressure monitoring system. Black tape is not an option for me.
I am sure I can think of others as time goes by.
Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
It helps me learn more about the marque.
THANK YOU!!! Bill for your help and advice.
I do hope to make it to SITP2012 assuming I can address the wheel & tire issue.
If anyone is willing to sell me set of 94~95GTS wheels please drop me a line.
Thank you for viewing my post.
Steve
Looking forward to acquiring

Steve:
You are happy guy, eh?! Enjoy the car, you deserve all the happiness in the world. Remember to enjoy it for what it IS and NOT for what it could be (good marriage advice too!).
I'm going to try and bring the "precious" to SITP 2012, I hope to see you there with my rear engined abomination.

Tim & Cheryl did such a nice job of preserving the car, it still looks pristine. I think you know they are probably the only two people quite as obsessive compulsive as you and Steve. They had the rollcage and other safety equipment built so that it could retain the dash and other interior panels. The suspension is such a nice combination of butter smooth bump control and high speed stability that I have never ridden in a more comfortable 928, especially one tailored for racing. It is one astonishing car. The only way I could buy it is to first survive divorce, then spend a big chunk of what money I have left on it. Then I'd be ready to go out and satisfy that urge to go 200+. It is very tempting. The car is a masterpiece.
Look forward to seeing you again at SITP in a few weeks.
