Not feelin the bubble.
Deep tint on the back parts, then maybe a canvas targa top from the top quarters to the top of the windscreep, like a scorpion, maybe. Probably require a heckuva internal frame build.

Good points SMTCapeCod.
It will have to be 928-powered, IMO, but maybe not obviously so (shaved engine markings).
Automatic, though a 5-speed or 6-speed would be cool![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I am concerned about the weight distribution, and am taking it into consideration. At this point, the wheelbase is turning out pretty long. I'll need to make some decisions on whether it will be track-worthy or simply a dragstrip car (which would be pretty cool, too).
I am thinking custom frame, with 928 front and rear suspension (to show it off). Body may have to be custom made, if it's too much trouble to use chopped 928 parts.
Still in the planning stage at this point, but the '81 is in pieces, as shown.
I did consider a low cut wind screen, and keeping the hoop (as seen in the side view rendering) as a targa-like feature, but I really like the Bubble Tops and would like to create my own.

You could ask for recognition in the Bubble Car Museum.
They even have an annual rally. Course to be in the rally you'd have to ship it across the big pond.

The virtual realism of media on a youthful innocence impressed on certain generations the vision of a Jetson-esque, flying-car future. The power of that impression reverberating with incongruity against today's shortfalling reality, brings a cognitive disonance which, in some, can only absolve itself by attempts at creating that vision. The bubble cars are such attempts. Don't tempt me with the jets!

There are other variations of the bubble look too. That Cyclopes looked like it had a lawnmower engine in it. The 4 door 928S4 had a nice curve to the rear window that's got a bit of a bubble look to it.

I should pass along some edu-ma-cation I have attenuated in this ah-reea. There are, apparently, a wide variety of boobles, as you may, or may not know. There are "boobbletop" (one word) versions of manufactured cars such as the 1961 Chevrolet Bel-Air and '50's era Corvettes. I did not know about the "bubble cars" from the other side of the pond, until Mel's post - so there are those as well. There are even "bubble-top" (hyphened) versions of aircraft, such as the P-51 Mustang with the bubble-top canopy. Now, the trah-dition I am followin' in developin' this he-ah "928 Booble Top" (separate words) started in a far corner of the 1960's car show scene.
There were, of course, several otherwise coupe-versioned show cars, but with "bubble tops" nicely integrated into them (such as the Silhouette, the X-Sonic, and many others). How-evah, a large, bare-footed man with much lower brows than many around him was found in a remote corner playing with plaster which was shaped into open-wheeled roadsters, which he topped off with a bubble. This man, of german origin, was, of course, the late, great Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. The "Big Daddy" nickname, along with the cane, top-hat, and full tuxedo he began to wear regularly, were the result of the money-making machinery trying to make this otherwise fly-attracting, road-side sleeper, into something the public could digest.
If possible, I will modify the headline of this topic, to say 928 Booble Top Roadster. But otherwise, please, lower your brows a bit more, but not too much (lest they stay that way), and one will begin to better see the great vision which is the 928 Open-Wheeled Booble Top Roadster. You can test your visual acuity by your reaction to the following sampling:

(Giving you time to adjust your "vision" appropriately...)
