i'm sorry to hear about the accident, and hope you can get the car fixed.
There have been multiple accidents in the past from frayed throttle cables that kept the throttle open while people were unable to stop the car. It really scared me when I first got into the 928s. Therefore, it's the first thing I would check - particularly since you say your pedal was extremely heavy.

if you have an auto without ABS go for a ride in a parking lot when its cold out, with cold tires,
or old tires for that matter and speed up to 20 MPH then press the brakes and the gas at the same time,
once the front tires lock the car becomes easier to push IE it wont slow down like you would think it can.
Seriously i did this a few times in my 84 Euro it had tires that were 10 years old,
it was cold out and the surface was cold,
once the tires locked the car would keep on going even though full brake pedal was being used, it did generate a bunch of tire smoke as the dried out tires simply slid along the pavement.
For your car check the throttle cable for fraying where it goes into the fire wall remove the cable from the bellcrank first then slide the housing out of the firewall fitting

Wow Adam totally sucks .. dont wanna rub salt in the wound but this is EXACTLY why there is no interlock to knocking the shifter of any car from drive into neutral all you had to do was hit the shifter.
That being said ithink Imre is right .. that car will likely be a right off .. You may have to write it off and buy it back . Isnt that an aluminum hood ?
Anyway best of luck to you .. hopefully you can get sorted quick and we can get back to those Avatars

Looks a lot like my '95 GTS that hit a deer last week! At least one front fender for sure and maybe two, hood, new spoiler up front, passenger rear Q panel has a dent (deer head???) I think the passenger door mirror will get painted... all up (at a VERY GOOD body shop, with only factory original and NEW parts)... wait for it... $15,176!!!! That is just to start...who know what the FINAL total will actually be! Oh, I need all lights except the drivers head light as well...

I had the throttle stick on my GT down at sharktoberfest...wouldn't drop from 3k plus rpm...made it difficult to drive (but it was a stick so I could pop into 4th and lug it). Luckily I made it to 928 Intl..and Mark just happened to have a new cable. Pulled the old cable and it was totally frayed where it went through the firewall.
I've also had the plastic adj. nut assembly on the engine side of the firewall separate and stick the throttle open....4500 rpm...again....had to pull over...and dislodge the plastic..and it went back into place..happened after I "got on" the throttle..
