Weissach Edition # 21 of 205...

Photos look great. If anyone is interested, I might go look and take photos just out of curiosity....

Is the pod normally black on the Weissach?

It is a one owner before the current flipper "pink in hand" often means not titled and registered to the guy selling it. Work needed often means it failed smog. Still could be a decent car. But "GREAT ON GAS 24/32 MPG " I do not think so Which if the guy tells stories how many does he tell ??
Also Mike makes it clear why some people just trade in or donate their cars. "I might go look and take photos just out of curiosity....

24/32 mpg? Count how many plug wires are attached, if you go look.

Exterior looks pretty good from here.

I figure it's worth a look see. Just trying to get out of work to go do it. Says it must sell today... If the paint is nice and original, and the interior is in good shape, I'd say it's worth the price. I will report back if I'm able to head out.

Ha Ha! Maybe 24/32 is a fraction of a mile per gallon...

Looks good but is it for real? Someday, I would like to have a special 928....someday. For now the best one is the one you get to drive everyday.

I like how they always say "One Owner" but they never count themselves.. lol Looks clean though. I'm curious how the interior is with CA heat though?

I've been trying to contact the owner. No answer, but I left a message. The ad says "must sell today", and that was on the 21st. I'll keep you posted. The dash sure looks to be non warped from the photo. I really want to go look at this one...

Ok. Got in touch with the owner. It's (by his words) in perfect condition, and everything works except for the transmission is having problems and The passenger window is non-op. He said it would be available for viewing today after 4, but I can't make it that late... I'm going to see it tomorrow around 11am. I'll take lots of photos... I might pick it up if I can talk mama into it. otherwise, I'll post the results here so someone else can take advantage of it if they are interested. Did the '82 have the remote hatch release? The hatch in the photo looks like the liner is worn out, so we will see how honest he is when he says "everything works"

I own #153. No remote hatch release. Pod is the same color as the dash but not covered in leather like the dash.
It should also have a badge on the dash with its number. Also if you run and Autocheck, it should come up as a Weissach (not sure about Carfax). If you run the VIN number it should have option code 462.

Google of phone number 323 six three 2 dash 5816 (messed with so searches don't come here) shows about 5 cars for sale.

Weissach, option code, badge, special paint, special two tone seats, 3 pc of $$$ Seegar leather luggage, otherwise its a typical 82 4.5L.

Must sell today = 5 days to flip before DMV wants it registered and fees paid. I would start my offers around $2500 unless it has the luggage etc.

Wonder if the car was donated to a charity ?? Who ever bought it new in 1982 had some money then. They may have gone for the tax deduction and this guy got it from the charity ?? Since he has 5 other cars for sale he clearly is not that "one owner" .

There are lots of flippers working Craigs list and all do it on an open titles avoiding all fees, registration, smog checks and if they make money any income taxes. Plus any problems and they claim they never "owned" the car and since they deal in cash only. Little you can do especially when you do not even know their real name or where they live. All you know is where they showed you the car.

I have not bothered to call this guy but bet I am correct about much of this. Be careful about back registration fees they can be several hundred dollars and another reason to donate a car. Many will state registration good until May , Sept , Dec if it is current because it adds value. In California any cheap car with 10-12 months left on the registration gets bought and never re-registered or titled just driven by an unlicensed unisured driver until it finally expires and gets impounded or is driven into Mexico.

What sucks about charity donation, the amount you get is the "net" profit from charity sale, which can be a fraction of the value of the car "less expenses".
