Default Wanted Trans Mounts, Urethane Project

If anyone has used intact or broken, please let me know so I can start a jig for these too for urethane injection and rebuild like the motor mounts. The difference is trans mounts will help all (minus 77-79) 928'ers, whereas the motor mounts will only help the folks with 77-82 cars.

Hi Andre,

I have a set from my 88S4, I'm in FL, someone may chime in more local to you but your welcome to have these.

USPS flat rate shipping works, look for a PM so we can trade information.

I want to thank Ivan aka "Whitesands" for sending me a set of old mounts for the project.

To many things Easter weekend to start; however, the following will begin the adventure.

Separated the first mount and clean up is a pain!

If anyone has a new mount in hand and can collect some measurements, I would be grateful.

Also there is an additional rubber mount with a composite surface that makes contact with the transmission, and does anyone know what this material is?

Will post pictures later tomorrow.

Sorry I missed this thread - I just did this a couple weeks ago. If it helps, here are some comparison pictures. The material on the side of the mount seemed like a hard white nylon kind of plastic.

Really hope you find a solution - price of these are (now) insane. In a rebuild, I would go ahead and instal a time-sert in it too. I think the torque was either 60 or 70 lbs – No surprise, I ended up stripping one of the new mounts. Maybe because I used antiseize. Anyway, the time-sert made it better than new.

They compress. And that makes the transmission sit lower.

Here's my before and after pictures. In the before picture, the tranny is resting on the cross member. In the after, it's about 3/4 of an inch above it.

I can only guess then that mine were changed at some point in the past as the 5spd box sits about 20mm proud of the crossmember at present...

Out of interest - how much are they from Porsche these days?

From Roger in his higher prices from Stuttgart thread:

Transmission Mounts 928 375 045 16 doubled to $255 each

I am sure I will find more 8>(
Find it interesting that Pelican now shows the mounts as "NLA". And I thought Porsche hated the 928 when it was still in production. Now they don't even use KY jelly.
