Default vacuum line issue

I have a 89 928 s4.My son and I had to install a new engine do to TBF ,after getting the engine bolted in we realized we forgot to connect the vacuum line that runs along the top of the bell housing going to the back of the car coming from a quad hose connector but I can't seem to find it in the factory manual .I suspect it might run to the hvac console if this is the case I was thinking it might be easier to route a new line through the firewall then to pull the motor. Is my thinking correct?

Is the vacuum line you are not finding the vacuum source to the automatic transmission module?

In my case I had a vaccum leak in that line somewhere above the torque tube or on the ends that were not easily accessable. I installed a new hard line parrallel to the brake lines under the car and up behind the engine with flexible hoses to connect to the 5 way connector and also the transmission module.

I did the same thing but used flex line all the way back. Getting that connection made after the engine was in was possible but a super PITA. Much easier to run new line.
