Makes it BETTER ! 50/50 is not ideal just better than the 60 front / 40 rear of many front engine cars. 45% front 55 % rear close to perfect and is near what F-1 cars run.
The extra rear weight helps for rear drive traction and offsets the efffects of weight transfer under hard braking both very good things ! And taking weight off anywhere will improve acceleration, braking, and cornering. Less total mass to move around.

While I 100% understand why people make these types of conversions...and I am seriously considering it.....but at the same time my 520+HP LS engine is for sale..... of course IF I decide to go the LS route...then my 928 engine will be for sale...
So basically I am a flip-flopper....sounds familiar huh

There is a fella here in Canada, Jim(JimV8) doing a very intense LS1 convertion to his 968. Its been a long process but I would like to take it for a spin when done.

The iron block LS engine is the very close in weight to our 928 engines....the tall deck LSX block might be a touch heavier....but will build past 500ci....
A C6 transxle weighs MORE than our 928 transaxle....I heard about 200lbs once...vs 158lbs

just fyi (and to open old wounds)... the blown yellow car(Rob Budd creation) is up on Ebay...
cheap buy it now. kills me to see it, as i have twice that in my build. and it's a long road trip away from me.
no affiliation, just a love of converted 928.

78 928 lt1 that I saved from the crusher
This is a 1978 5 speed I bought in April 2012 it took me 3 months to get it to this stage. Still needs some suspention work to lower it down 2-3 inches but over all a fun car. the last picture is the car car in April, the first is in August at a local car show. I am looking at an s4 tonight that is in pieces, maybe a little sister for this bad boy.lol

This project was alot of fun. Anyone thinking of doing a chevy v8 conversion should just go for it. The people at Renegade where very helpful, the kit works and fits perfect.I pushed myself alittle too much to get the car done but the next one should be no big deal, it's all the little things that take time and thinking, the fuel lines, headers, rad, computer, wirring, throtle cable, ect.
I've owned 911s for over 25 years and love everything about theme but this 928lt1 puts a smile on my face just sitting in it. It sounds unreal with the stock exhaust and as Ken shows in his pictures I installed electric exhaust dumps.

Also, back to the thread, I was considering doing the Chevy thing, till I met Dean and Roger, had talked much with Renegades. I would still consider it if I ever had a total engine blowout.

CHEVY MILL IN A 928??
NOT TO DENEGRATE those who try BUT, Why would you put a piece of Detriot PIG IRON in a TEUTONIC MASTERPIECE like a 928?? I guess it takes all kinds. I remember a guy who put a 427 in a VW bug. He ran it Englishtown drag strip in the late '60s. GOD-AWFULL FAST, and LOUD like you can't believe. A real trip to see a bug turn mid 9s with the front end still in the air as it went thru the traps!!!! "SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!!-- SEE STONE WOODS COOK SUPERCHARGED CORVAIRS!! SEE TIM LEARY'S FULL-BLOWN HEAD!! ENGLISHTOWN DRAGWAY!! SUNDAY!! SUNDAY!! SUNDAY!!!!" ( yes, I am that old) I might be tempted to put a Racingbeat MAZDA R-26 engine in one if I had a spare SHARK and $25->30K sitting around doing nothing [ R-26: 4-rotor wankel racing engine 900+HP 14000rpm redline, gas mileage? 4 to the gallon, but you do those 4 miles in 60 seconds!!]
