I did all this on a pretty tight budget.

Alpine 126BT deck, picked that one up for $120 on boxing day.
2 pairs Alpine SPS-410, $200
1 pair Alpine SPS-600 $65 (sweet open box special)
Alpine KTP-445 Booster, $150 (nice old cash deal)

Total $535, not bad at all I think, now I just need to add a sub.

Some background on the install. I orginally purchased a set of Infinity Reference speakers, but the 4" did not fit as the diameter of the magnet was too great. The Alpine's drop right in, not cutting of the doors at all.

For the doors, the grill ring sits on top of the speaker, so the ring is slightly raised, but not very noticable. In the rear the factory grills fitted over the 4's as well, but again with a slight gap.

The 6.5's fit right in the stock grill frames, I just had to drill 4 small holes for the screws that hold the speaker to the grill frame. Again the Alpine did not require and metal cutting to fit.

The KTP-445 fit perfectly in the factory booster location and I used the factory booster constant power to feed the new booster and deck. Deck connects to the switched power as per the factory deck.

Normally the switched power is fed from the KTP unit to the deck, I simply connected the deck directly and bypassed the accessory power wire that goes through the booster, the unit does not need that wire active to operate.

I had to make a longer harness to go between the deck and the booster, but that was no big deal, except I made the harness to long, but luckily there was enough room behind the deck to tuck it away.

I also retained the factory tweeters in the doors and used the factory speaker harness at the booster.

Now I'm planning my sub build. I think I'm going to make the unit from MDF and utilize the spair tire well with one mono amp to drive a 10" sub.

I already ran an RCA cable from the deck and have it tucked away with the booster.

Soon I will have my door speaker grills repaired and installed.

It's nice to finally have a 21st century audio system in this beast.

It has plenty of power. The deck was even sufficient, but with the KTP booster the audio is much cleaner at higher volumes than with just the deck alone.

I had dark side cranked and it was sweet. Speaking of Floyd I can't wait to see the Wall again this summer, I have 20th row floors this time.

The deck is 18x4 rms. The KTP booster takes that to 45x4 rms.

The Alpines sound nice, I personally like to have all drivers matching. Once Hans has the 6.5's ready that would be a good option.

And the Alpines can be had, all 6 speakers for about $300.

Hans stuff is pretty cool, lots of R&D.

I've been using that same amp in my truck for about 18 months. It's not earth shattering, but definitely a worthwhile addition.

Bluetooth would be great ! this is my system as installed by the PO . Could I just swap units ? The speakers all look stock , the speakers on the rear deck are missing , just covers and wires ? thanks Terry

Andy, I just extended the length of the harness that goes between the deck and amp, minus the accessory power wire as the amp only passes it through. I took accessory power from the factory deck harness. Everything else wired in at the factory booster harness. I ran the harness I made along the floor in front of the seat and up into the console following a harness that already runs through there. I cut a small hole in the carpet to conseal the harness. Let me know if you need any pictures.

I put the door grills on, well most of them, one is going to need some repair.

I ended up using the head of a small screwdriver to roll around the inside of the mesh to make it stay in place so I could get the grills as far in as possible. There is still a bit of room between the tweeter in the Alpines and the mesh.

They look pretty good. I may down the road decide to modify the outer edge of the speaker and the inner portion of the ring to make the ring fit snug against the door. But for now I would rather turn my attention to a sub and a few other mechanical upgrades.
