The harnesses have changed IIRC, but the color coding on the wiring has remained the same. It's not plug and play simplicity, but it's about as close as you'll get.

Andy, try price matching at Best Buy, to sonic electronics or crutch field. They have the best prices.

Adamant1971,

Yesterday I went to Best Buy and purchased the Alpine deck (CDE-124SXM) and the KTP-445 Power Pack. This morning I ordered the Alpine SPS-410 and SPS-600 speakers from onlinecarstereo.com . All Alpine - All In - $425

Thanks again for all your help!

Default sub

Well it didn't take me long to be annoyed by the lack of bass. I picked up a ported Alpine 8" R series sub and a Pioneer amp. They fit in the tire well pretty good. Also if I put the spare tire back the amp can go inside the spare and the sub can sit in the hatch.

All installed except I don't have the correct fuse to fit the fuse holder at the battery. So the sound check will have to wait until tomorrow.

Wow is all I have to say. That little 8" sub is solid. Since its the anniversary of Dark Side, I had it cranked all the way to work!

Andy Kay, I was thinking of getting that same radio. Can you let me know how you run the SiriusXM antenna? That is the part that concerns me.

That is a nice clean install! I like! I built box in the spare tire location for a small JL 8" driver and it really balances out the system in terms of the low end. Here is a link to my install if anyone else catches this thread and wants to see more examples. I still need to update it for the subwoofer I added though. Just click on "Cassirot Stereo Upgrade"

Dan:
I checked out your site but don't see pics of how you routed the XM antenna out of the car. Where did you end up mounting it?

I don't have XM. My deck has USB ports and I put all my 80-90s music on a thumb drive and just run it off there or listen to CD's.

Sorry it was Andy Kay that installed the CDE-124SXM with built-in SiriusXM tuner...

Kevin-just read this thread and saw your question. I tried to buy the head unit Adam got but they only cnly had the CDE-124SXM and I have no interest in XM so I didn't even consider hooking it up. My wife just shakes her head.

As for the amp, the wiring harness is not long enough so we installed the amp in front of the passenger seat and under the carpet. No problem moving the seat forward or back. I got my amp for $90.99 at Best Buy because its being closed out. Best bang for $100 bucks yet.

Wish I could have been more help with the XM hook up! BTW, is there a monthly charge for sirius?

Is the microphone in the original pics for tuning the system?

Adam,
I guess I'm "old school" because XM and blue tooth don't do much for me but I would like to know more
about the amp and sub configuration. Did you make the enclosure or buy it that way? Looks like you removed the spare.

Thanks again for the Alpine thread. That little amp delivers great sound and all for $90.99!
