Default 1989 928 GT rebuild project

Hi Guys,
thought we would share a few pictures of one of our customers 1989 year type 928 GT that we have just finished up the mechanical restoration stage.
The 928 was a UK delivered GT. It was then shipped to Hong Kong for a few years and has been in Australia for the last 13 or so years. Unfortunately with all the salt they put on the road in the UK every nut and bolt was corroded. Some, such as the big hub/ lower shock shaft on the rear could not be removed. Many more would snap off when being removed.

We stripped the car down so that no mechanical parts remained on the car. just a bare shell from underneath. lots of parts were sent away for plating, lots of new parts were ordered and the rebuild began. There was some pitting on the cams so we sourced a set of cams through 928 motorsport. Which are a little bit hairier then the GT cams that came out. The standard GT forge wheels were in a terrible condition and could not be repaired so thanks to Roger at 928s R Us he sourced us a set of Genuine GT forge Fuchs wheels from Porsche. Apparently the last full set available. Roger also supplied us with the stainless Exhaust system. There is too much to list so i will follow with some pictures.

Excited to see it complete!

I was wondering what that sensor/bracket was on the rear axle...and then I realized the ROW GT's actually had the tire pressure monitoring system.

Very nice looking bits...hope to do that to my 89GT one of these days..

Oh yea.. what kind of A/C condenser is that?....did you fit an aftermarket unit and convert to R134? (per the sticker).... Did you use the stock nipendenso compressor?

TIA..

Very well done Jet, I didn't realize you were the one doing the work. I've been lucky enough to hear about its progress through Roger over the past many months. Glad to see the work.

Bruce
A few questions:
Are those revalved Konis and have you kept GT springs?
Are you modifying crankcase breathing or oiling?
Apart from the cams and exhaust what other departures from stock?
I'm assuming you powdercoated the intake and covers ... I'm just about to do the GTS ... can you share the colour you use? I want to keep the GTS as factory as possible.
TIA
