OK I'm puzzled - '88 SE
Horn works if I close the contacts on the relay manually (Yes I pulled the cover off). Doesn't work if I press the pad on the steering wheel.
Switch the ignition on and I only get the red light under the volts gauge.
Are these possibly related symptoms.
Fuses (18) for horn and 10 for instrument control lamps both check out OK.

Update
Horn now works - no contact between the ring on the back of the steering wheel and the sprung copper contact on the steering column.
OT Had a sudden flashback to Dave Shaeffer warning that the contacts contain beryllium which ain't good for you if you abrade an inhale the dust.
So now only warning lights to fix.

Hi Jon:
So, all the gauges work but simply the warning lights never illuminate, right? Does the low volt warning light go off once the engine is running?
Does none of the lighting work in the instrument panel?
I'm not smart enough to have an answer, but I'm just trying to clarify the situation. I tried finding a clue in the wiring diagrams, but all I see is they share a common ground from the ignition switch. Alan should have a look at this thread.
This guy appeared to have a wonky central warning brain: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...r-sitting.html

No Leds
Gauges Work
low volt warning light goes off when engine running.
Instrument illumination works (even dims with the rheostat)
Time to investigate Alans suggestion of the connections to the central warning box.
Cheers

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have this exact problem and was wondering if a solution was ever reached.
I am fortunate enough to have another central warning unit. I swapped my existing one out and gained the exclamation point but still no other warning lights besides low voltage.
Curious.....

Guy
As the original poster I am sorry that I never posted even an update. I'll blame it one going on holiday to europe followed by too much work followed by holiday now in NZ. I haven't done anything since my last post. When I get home I'll investigate some more

Jon928SE is correct. Berrylium is dangerous if inhaled. We used it in high temperature MHD applications and had to cordon off the area where this stuff was being used. Not dangerous in solid form but don't break into small pieces and inhale.
