I want Silver OB :D
#46
I ran across a silver OB yesterday in San Jose. Perfect body, no rub strips, looked like black leather interior, 5 spd, original wheels.
It is covered in dust sitting in a handicap spot in an apartment house carport. It was too dusty to be sure but I couldn't find a single ding in the body.
I asked a few people but no one knew who owned it or how long it had been sitting there.

Silver OB
I found one here. A local car, two owner, 1978 #696 automatic, sold originally in Toronto and lived in Windsor all its life. It was driven year around. It has some rust bubbles and lots of little things. I bought it non running but it only took me about 20 mins to get it running on the trailer.
It needed
... The gas tank bung sealed I glued it back in with windshield urethane, it was actually loose in the hole, its still sealed after a year and counting.
...The gas tank strap was basically lace had to replace it a better one.
...The shift cable was broken inside the tunnel I replaced it with a new one.
...Right front spring was broken and threaded down over the lower strut plate that was a mess to fix, ended up taking it right out to repair.
... The PO meant well but he tried running the warm up regulator and cold start circuit off the green wire for power, same with the electric rad fan the manual fan was gone already.
... New tie rods, rack boots, ball joint boots, calipers, rotors, pads, front flex lines and wheel nuts.
...Had to make up some new transmission cooler lines the old ones had rotted right through.
...Replace the exhaust from the cat back.
...Lots of little things, even the interior lights all work.
Left to do yet
... Replace the rad with the correct one and remove the aftermarket oil coolers for the trans and motor.
...New struts all the way around.
...Alignment and decent rims and tires, it has the 15 inch snows on it right now that came with the car.
The PO's father named the car Gretchen we liked that name very much it suits the car very well..

I'm far from a 928 guru and I know you guys get pretty particular about the definition of an "OB"... but would a GOLD 82 W edition be of interest? Its on FleaBay with a 2nd bid of $4K. It had a buy it now price of $5500 but that was deleted. I think they figured out it was a "special" car. If my wife wouldnt KILL me I'd seriously look into it... No affiliation with the seller - just seems like a really nice example that could be had at a decent price.
