Default %$*# Panel Clips.

Hello all,
84 Euro Here. Have my door panel off to fix my loose mirror, which was a success yesterday. I am in the process of regluing the loose vinyl and washed carpeting onto the door panel.
So i noticed i also have loose vinyl on the "B" pillar above the window. So i thought while i got the panel off, i should fix it too. Well i dont know what it is, but i always break those clips that hold the panels on. They ones on the"B" pillar seem to be smashed into the plasic as it is heated. The clip is not broke, they just come away from the panel. What does everyone use to glue these back on, Epoxy ?
Years ago, my headliner waas loose so i had a company put new vinyl on the roof, that turned out really nice. It is much smoother than the original vinyle, and looks more like leather. I am wondering if i should put this on the door panel and the "B" pillars as well, but that means i would have to do the entire care in it then. I dont know how i would put all those little holes for the speakers.
Anyone else been dealing with this dilema before ?

I bought a bag of each panel clips early in my 928 life. They aren't at all expensive, until you decide to just get one or two and pay individual shipping. Moral of the story: Make a list of 'consumable hard parts" on the car and include it with your next parts order from our vendor/sponsors. Ten or twenty dollars gets you a lifetime supply (for one car...) of these clips, the fasteners that hold a door sill cover, the mushroom buttons that hold the rugs down, etc. Into the spares inventory they go. Too many times I've worked on cars that are missing stupid little things like the door panel clips. Soon the panel is warped, then broken, all for want of a few fifty-cent plastic clips. Borders on criminal.

Thanks Dr. Bob, I plan on ordering a few other things, and will put these things on my list.

The clips im speaking of, that hold the vinyl trimed piece about the door windows. these seem to be held in place by heating the plastic then they get pressed inot the soft plastic. Im wondering if someone had ever had to repair these ?
Thanks again.

I don't know about "heating the plastic". The barbed ends of the mushrooms go in easy, come out broken or stretched/distorted. Consider yourself blessed if you have black window trim; last time I looked for these (early '80's for my at-the-time '76 SC), black was about the only color that was supplied reliably. Don't know how the 928 parts are available in non-black colors. Good news is that Porsche buys these parts from companies that make the same parts for lots of cars, so they aren't unobtanium.

I know the clips you're talking about; I had a few broken ones on my 84. And I know what you mean, it's like the clips were put in the plastic while it was still cooling. I believe I used Weldwood contact cement--put it on the clip and also the piece of trim, waited and then stuck them together. I think I used that cement becuase it's the same glue I was using at the time for the vinyl that came unglued on the piece of trim. Thet didn't come unglued the rest of the time I had the car--but I don't know about long-term.

I got mine from Pelican . Bag of 10 was less than 7 bucks. I always keep them around because the US clips are too long.

On the degree of frustration scale this is a very low # (like a 1 or 2). Once you get the right clips you will not be bothered

Thanks Darkland, But those are not the clips im talking about. The ones that hold the door panel that is above the window. I think its called the b pillar. It has these little square clips that are pressed into the plastic before it cools. The plastic oozes out throgh the clips little holes. Well they snapped oof from the plastic, i am going to try to rivet them back on.
