The car does nought to sixty in approx 6 seconds and 60 to zero in 3 seconds as I recall - that in a nutshell does for the springs long term and I would bet that the 928 springs last longer than most but they do not last forever.

Indeed I sometimes think folks generally have little perception of what really happens in the bushes- supposedly they follow Young's Law but if they did they would return to their natural position as soon as the weight of the vehicle is imposed on them but as we know that just does not happen- so clearly something else is going on. To this day I do not think I have ever heard of this anomaly being discussed in the forum yet alone resolved- it just seems to be accepted with no thought given to it.- that is not a problem per se but I do find it intriguing.
I rethought, and duh, you are right.

I will order these parts :

Front vibration damper SACHS 314617 : 928 343 055 07. 105 USD on RockAuto
Additional front spring (shock rubber stop) : 928 343 527 02

Rear vibration damper SACHS 664008 : 928 333 051 16 (can't find it. Out of stock everywhere ...)
Additional rear spring (shock rubber stop) : 928 333 518 10

Do you see something else to buy ?
Where to find rear SACHS ?
Fabien,

I might be wrong but I think the front OEM shocks in our GTS are not adjustable. Hopefully, somebody else will pitch in and knows for sure.
Without threads at the front, you can not change the ride height. Get in contact with Roger and he can set you up and answer all your questions. Only the OEM fronts are cheaper, the rears are basically the same. The Bilsteins are great Shocks and fully adjustable, trust me on this one. I'm driving them myself and they are so much better than OEM.
There are some parts for our cars were OEM is not the best option.

They look like my old ones but IIRC they are not adjustable or the range is very small. Hope somebody else her knows...

Schocki,

As I am aware all S4 and GTS models have adjustable suspenders unless of course it just so happens that all the ones I have seen had such. Remember this example is sitting very low at the front and maybe that is why what you see looks a bit "strange".

Is there some confusion between adjustable shock absorbers (Boge, by my understanding are not adjustable), and the ride height - which is adjustable on all 928's with which I'm familiar (only owned '87-'95 models)?

Gary,

As I am aware the concept we are talking about is adjustable ride height. Stock shocks are non adjustable, the Koni's on my front end are internally adjustable, The Bilstein gas shocks on my rear are non adjustable but there are other Bilstein variants that are adjustable.

If the range is very small, why am I at 120 mm instead of 190 mm ? It's a big range

I have BOGE, with the Porsche logo, on my GTS.

The springs on our cars have sagged over the years. Meaning they have lost some of their original tension when they were new.
This is why new stock shocks won't change anything at the front.

My front BOGE shocks absorbers are tired. My rear BOGE shocks absorbers seems to be good.

Since rear SACHS #664008 or BILSTEIN #24-009744 are not available, I think to change only front with SACHS #314617 and the additional spring. I will keep my front wheel springs and I will reuse the nut and the threaded ring. Do you agree ?
