Default Need 89+ OE 6-channel Stereo Amplifier; Got one gathering dust?

Hey folks,

I'm busy returning Dave Tassinari's (nee Doc Mohr's (nee Jeannie Robert's)) '89 GT's stereo to the stock 10-speaker configuration with a CD-2 head unit and the factory 6-channel booster (amp.)

However, the OE amp Dave got in a box turns out to have a broken and totally missing ground pin in the plug for the left-front channel. Options are to buy a new one, buy a used one from 928 Intl, send it off to get a new plug soldered onto the amp's board, or ...

... to see if anyone here who's 928 came, originally, with the 10-speaker system has a dusty - but working when pulled - 6-channel OE amp with which they'd be willing to part (sell)?

Anyone?

Anyone?

It probably wasn't clear in the OP: Yes, willing to pay for the amp. Not looking to get one for free.

Really? No one has a 6-channel amp they want to sell?

Took out my stock GTS amp because it was pulling a drain on the battery with the key off.

Dave-

I have a spare 6-channel amp sitting here that I THINK is operational, but have never actually plugged it in. I think part of the sticky issue on offering these up for sale is that some people think they're worthless and some people (928Intl included, judging by their pricing) think they're worth quite a bit. So valuation is challenging.

So I'll throw this out- I can send you this amp and if it works (I have every reason to expect that it does) I'd sell it for $200 plus shipping, to split the difference between 'free' and Mark's official price. Consider it a 'February 50% off all used parts sale'. If $200 is too high and you get a better offer, my feelings will not be hurt at all- mine can go back in the 'restore the GTS to stock' bucket.

Thank You Sir! We'll see if someone underbids you

In the meantime, I'll direct Tass to this thread to avoid any perceptions that I'm being too free with his money.

I'm easily able to test it and if it doesn't work I will send it back to you.

Shoot me a PM with shipping addresses if Dave is interested in playing with it. I would volunteer to test it in the GT but that would involve moving the car out of storage- easier to ship the amp cross country. If it doesn't work I'll pay shipping both ways.

Dave,
If you want a bad one for parts, I have two.
If I remember well, both have a problem with one channel.
Not working for one and a buzzing sound for the other.
Never will put them back anyway.

Just let me know if you want them.

Thanks for the help folks.

A "secret phone bidder" has underbid Rob and the amplifier should be on its way soonish.

Rob, if the on-its-way amp doesn't work properly, we'll likely take you up on your offer.

Hi Brad,

I have been looking at the same amp. Just out of curiosity, where did you install it?

Thanks

Martin
