stock is best . pretty proven. just get that thing together and start driving it!!
lets get that fender flared like i did for the 6 liter and get those wheels and tires on.

check it out 1.5" of added space vs stock!
these are 275s on the rear here!

Ah don't..

Clearly the tinker bug is biting hard...so for the intake- the car, when all the components are in place and functioning, is set up to take (relatively) cold air from in front of the radiator. Factory CAI, of sorts.

If you want bragging rights or just to do something to it, you can look into the intake plenum expanders...that should be fairly benign. Unlikely to mess anything up/add stress, but you won't likely see much gain either.

Your low hanging fruit for performance is going to be exhaust as discussed in prior thread- properly designed x pipe and reduced weight if other components are replaced. Thereafter, you can look into getting it better tuned via a shark tuner.

If determined to roll the dice in a fit of youthful vigor- get nitrous or start saving the cash for a forced induction install .....but you probably have a ways to go to be sure the basics are sound enough to support any such thing.

I like that intake mod ! cardboard has low heat transfer, the aluminum foil lining is low resistance , red graphics for bling. And the exhaust smells like potatoe chips. Simple, easy, cost effective what more could you ask for ? 928s car utilize two or more for twice the power increase.

what are you confused about?
you dont need any mods to the engine. almost impossible to improve on what porsche did without making the car louder or costing a bunch of money. if you want power, you need the GT cams (which are kind of rare) or modified 85 cams to fit. (also time and money). the way you have it , it will be plenty fast.
just enjoy it. put on the exhauast mods, cat back and you are set.

Decide how much you want to swap out every two years to pass the smog inspection, they have gotten picky about so called cold air systems.

I've got two plans;

A) Copy what Porken did shrouding the AC and radiator so the front nozzles don't get hot air off of them.

B) Eventually cut some metal around the cowl to get cold air from the pressure zone in front of the windshield into the filter. This option can be kind of complicated, or sloppy, and I don't like sloppy much.

But what about the EIS? The layout is basically the same as stock except with conical filters. Couldn't that reduce restriction from increasing the surface area relative to the old one?

The EIS does smooth out the flow of air, which is why you get an increase of HP/TQ.
