What is the advantage of this Porsche engine stand adapter? I have a 928 on a standard HD engine stand and it holds it just fine. Is it that one extra mounting bolt that you guys are after?

As a factory tool dork I love the idea of having a P201 stand and the VW313 bench mount, but I'm having a hard time imagining how heavy a bench you'd have to have to be able to hang a 530+ lb 928 motor off the end of it, let alone rotate the engine around. Does the P201's yoke fit into a 'standard' engine stand?
Jake, replicating the 9216 tool that would allow mounting a trans to a standard stand (like like Brad and Sean describe) would be a winner. No idea what a new 9216 costs but I'd guess well over $500.
(OT: For engine stands I like the ones GB has in his shop. Sturdy as hell and the drip pan is actually big enough to work no matter the position of the engine.

my local porsche shop, where we did my rear diff, took a large "american engine" stand and cut the head off, and mounted the porsche bench adapter just because the 928 blocks are so damn heavy. then he added a drip tray.

Gonna quote myself:
Curiosity got the better of me, current cost for a 9216 is $644....
Finally got around to painting my new transmission stand today:

I like it but with a few mods, like a flat reinforced spot in the right place on the bottom to fit the pad of a hydrolic jack might be an interesting thing to have... Just a thought. I may be interested in one a little while down the road. Good work though, it looks good.
