car has 120k or so on the clock, good compression. The car has a miss and guy said it got rust in the tank from the filler neck and clogged things up. He flushed the tank and lines but still has a miss, needs injectors cleaned. Has a new clutch but needs adjusted up. Nice body and decent interior- gold w/ brown interior. Needs a tune up. If i were to buy this car and get the engine running right again, what would it be "worth" potentially?

It likely needs a TimingBelt/WaterPump job too. Good news about an 82 - its non-interference so you shouldn't do any damage if the belt jumps on you.

It depends. An 82 isn't a high value model generally, altho gold with brown interior - would like to see pics - maybe it is a Weissach? In any event, if you sort it out, and get it running well, and depending on quality of paint, interior, etc etc, around $5k.

Just curious. What did it sell for?

I just paid $5K for an 83 5-speed with 58K verified one owner miles. Needed some minor refurbishing (about $2,500 with another $600 or so to go short term. That put it in pretty good condition for its age. Probably worth $6K or so now. In other words, I porbably should have offered $1,000 to $1,500 less, but I am still satisfied with the deal. In fact I love the car and its potential.
Anything other than GT's are not investment cars in IMHO, just cars that can be aqcuired inexpensively and then driven for the pure joy of it. My view is simple. I would much rather drive mine for the $7,500 so far than a new whatever for $15K to $20K. I could make car my great for another $5 to $7K and that would be worth it as well.
My $0.02.
