rear camera record forward as well
Hi all I Need some camera mounting opinions.
When I bought the stereo I also bought this rear mount camera.

I was thinking about how to run the wires to the back of the car (from inside to outside)
Then It came to me that maybe I don't need to.
I could mount it around the sunroof hump behind the front seats and shoot through the rear window.
Then I thought, hey I have the capability to maybe record direct to the SG card or even the laptop and if I spin it forward I could record an entire trip.
Now how cool would that be
The stereo is a AVH P5200 BT

any thoughts
I could also record the cop pulling me over

The rear-view parking cameras tend to be pretty short focal length so you can see a wide view. If you want to use it for parking it really will want to be at the back of the car. If it wasn't unsightly, a perfect spot might be right under the middle of the rear spoiler. Absent that option, it goes right over the license plate, between the lamp modules.
That short focal length (wide angle) will not give you much perspective looking forward. The little GoPro Hero is likely a better choice. Plus it has a slew of mounting pieces included in the big kit.

Hi Brad
Here is where my rear view camera is mounted....
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/148/imgp2689s.jpg/
Its the black circle above the S of Porsche...
I use mine as a proper rear view as the rear hatch tint is too dark to see anything out of the rear view mirror....so I have a clip on LCD screen on top of the mirror, I changed the lens on the camera 3 times until eventually I put in a telephoto lens which gives the same distance as a normal rear view mirror...
All the best Brett
