Safe jacking to place on jackstands
Was wondering, where is a safe point to lift each end up to place on jack stands at all 4 corners?
Need to raise her for inspection and a couple of other reasons.

I have access to hydraulic floor jacks but usually raise each side simultaneously at the the jacking points, need another jacking source to place jack stands under the points

Procedure with floor jacks is:
1. jack at rear lift point on driver or passenger rocker panel. This will raise both front and rear on that side and you place jackstand under the front lift point. Lower on to jackstand.
2. repeat on opposite (i.e. go to the passenger side and jack at rear lift point). Lower onto jackstand
3. put jack under center of car in rear and lift at rear cross member underneath (not differential)
4. place jackstands under both sides. lower onto jackstands
5. Make sure car is stable on stands (I like to rock in both front and rear)
If anything is moving, repeat procedures.
I recommend use of heavy duty jackstands (Harbor Freight has some great 6 ton units) Don't cheap out on Jackstands.
Also, this procedure could be easier if you use the liftbars for your model year (www.liftbars.com)
Good Luck and stay safe!

For the rear use the rear crossmember under the tranny.
For the front I use my floor jack and lift the car from here and put the jack stand at the lift point. Thanks Dave for the pic.

I was looking for this info the other day and found this. I just bough a '89 S4 last week and was searching around before I start to play with it.

Here is the full URL to it on 928 MS website. http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...jackpoints.php
I don't recall the details but some people used to make a wood piece that fit someplace in the front and allowed jacking from the middle of the car.
