I think they started the RDK in 1990 and stopped early in the 1994 MY.

It did. There are ~15 1994 928 GTSs equipped with RDK. After that, gonzo!

In particular, look at the exhaust and let me know if it has a single pipe out or the regular dual exhaust tip on it... The one I looked at last year had some sort of single out the back vs. the dual you would expect to see.
Hi James,
I took a quick look at this today. Sorry I didn't see your email before I left. Here's what I found. The car was in an indoor consignment showroom that was carpeted and it was backed up against the wall:
- paint is shiny black, has some blemishes and scratches here and there. A couple of 2-3 inch deeper scratches on the rear fin.
- dash has a few small cracks.
- seats (black) look a little worn but still relatively good. No tears, or noticeable cracks.
- Battery was dead so I could open the rear hatch. Was told the battery is not holding its charge.
- Rears seats were folded down but there was a huge amp in the back with a black carpeted box which looked custom made and the carpeting was ripped off in some areas.
- engine bay looked clean as a result of some detailing but there was some type of rubber coating on the manifold which was badly cracked. Not sure what 95 GTS engines look like. The large air hoses on each side had black foam covering that was ripped up.
- I looked under the car but it was dark as it was sandwiched between two other cars but I recall seeing some shiny oil spots in the under carriage..hard to tell though.
- I asked for service history and was handed a folder an inch thick. I was told there were $15k in repairs in the last year done by 2 different Porsche dealers.
- The interior looks clean, the window buttons were not original.
I asked if I can arrange a test drive and they said I have to work with the seller to agree on a price before a test drive.
- I was told the mileage is around 110k miles.

Hope this helps.

Just took a look at the photos and it does not look like this car is in a very good shape.
What happened to the sunroof?

I was wondering that too. It looks OK in the registry pics at 101K miles.

Somehow I can imagine him flogging the crap out of cars, so I don't know whether I'd be too generous with 928 points ... assuming he did actually own all the ones attributed to him.

I regularly flog my 928. Seems to keep it happy.

What Porsche dealer would have a clue, that was $15k down the drain as everything they touched should be inspected. Kinda sad to see a GTS like this, needs a good home.

Thanks for the update guys. I am personally not ready to move on this car... and I doubt many others will be either from the sound of it, but now you understand why it is $22k for a '95 GTS...it is rough! As I would expect at that price for a '95. Sounds like it would work for my project, but just not ready to drop that kind of coin yet on another 928... In time, in time!

Top-end refresh, new seat leather and a respray of the sunroof would put this in the $25-30K range (assuming no other big surprises). ~$20K, doesn't seem so bad. I have it on good authority, from a close personal friend, that they no longer make '95 GTS'.

Likely true, put $10k to $15k into it and should go for $25k easy.

OTOH while they don't make them anymore, higher mileage makes a larger hit on the GTS, and 110k miles is past the limit for many potential buyers of expensive old cars, and with carfax etc around you can't fix mileage.
