James - Is the last "last" 928 the midnight blue one in the museum and the peridot was the last one sold? There's nothing on the sign in the museum that made me think it was the last, but I've heard it was. I think Chuck mentioned that it wasn't. Just trying to get it right in my head. And then there's this website: http://www.928s4vr.com/928s4007.htm

Again, congrats! When you get your 93, that blue (like the 911) will be incredible!

Blue '95 5sp at factory museum is nowhere near last ROW car made. They did around 20 5sp cars after it and close to 100 automatics IIRR.

Guys, THE LAST US 928... Who knows which is the LAST, LAST, LAST GTS... I always thought it was the midnight blue one at the museum, but that makes no difference to me. We DO KNOW which was the last US 928 and that is has disappeared from the face of the earth (so it seems) so I am just doing a little tribute to it... It will be a reminder of that last US 928...

The exterior will be as close as one can get with a Porsche factory color and the interior will just "hint" of that crazy interior in that last US 928... I couldn't afford to remake that interior if I wanted to. That is the craziest thing I have seen! Just going to hint at that! Should be fun!!

I can't wait to get it going!

Unfortunately I don't get compensated nearly enough for the work I do. Otherwise I'd be all over it!

Took me forever to find this thread again... Thought it would have been easy to find, but I guess I just suck at "search"...

So, here is the update:

3/21/12 the car was being driven from San Jose to my house in ATX. First day went well with a stop for the night in SoCal. Next day dawns bright and its time to head out. Just outside of Phoenix and the car breaks down... We get the car over to the best shop in AZ for 928's and they quickly figure it out. H2O pump has seized! UGH! This is Sunday btw! They work on it from 2pm-ish till 7pm so they are ready to go Monday AM. No other damage done, but it needs new cam gears and plenty of those other things that happen to 928's with 105k miles on them.

They get all the parts and put it back together the next day. I knew this work was going to have to be done soon, but didn't plan on it being THIS soon after purchase! By 4:30pm Monday the car is back on the road. Make far West TX and shut down for several hours for some shut eye.

Tuesday AM breaks car is up and going and making great time with the cruise set at 83. About 3.5 - 4 hours from ATX hit a DEER!!! OMG! No one hurt but the deer and the car. Car can still drive and is not leaking anything nor have the airbags deployed! Thank goodness!

Arrive ATX around 1:30... Car looks like HELL!

3/25/12 A friend and I take the car to the body shop for repair!! They submit the initial estimate the the insurance company says fix it! SO HAPPY! No salvage title! YEA!

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!

July 13th I get the car back! Car looks better than it has in probably 10 years!

Here it is a little further along in the process. I asked them about pics before they really got started on any of the work and they said they don't normally do that because it scares people to see their cars like this. I told them I would like as much documentation of the work as they could get for me! My service writer guy took GOOD care of that! EVERYTHING they did is documented! AWESOME!

Next on the agenda are putting the Hankook Ventus V12 tires on the 18" 5 spoke PanAm take off wheels, installing the shark woofer, Hans door speakers, CR210 with rear aux iPod plug in (through headphone jack...oh well...can't have everything I guess!), and get the old crap OUT!

Fix A/C and clean everything us as much as possible inside the car. It is really not bad, but the seats are very dry from a sunroof leak and failure to dry them out and clean them up properly after a few rains by the PO... Paul Champagne will be taking care of that for me later this fall I hope! We have been talking about this for nearly a year now I guess...prior to the purchase of this particular car!
