Mark...that certainly looks a LOT like Hwy9, Norcal.

And..bout 10yrs ago you could make good $ finding solid little old trucks..4banger toyotas, mitsu's...that failed smog. Pick em up for $300/550 or so, a rebuilt carb, intake gasket and ignition bits, and ship & sell in hawaii for about $1000-1500 profit each. The 4x4 ones were really high demand.

Then shipping costs went up, and the boom for small local contractors in HI dried up when the Dot.Com types stopped moving in...

Was good money for 5hrs of work.

Ship it over with a good interior/etc, and they'll drive it until you can no longer weld the frame together where the bed meets the cab.

A 64 dart four door is worth half of what a two door might be. Two door is worth about 1/2 of what a convert would be, GT adds value , V-8 adds much value. What you have is an old grandma car, neat that it survived but far from being anything collectible or desirable, it is just old.
Spending $900 for wheels and tires (doubling your investment) is a strange way to make money. Good luck on the sale but I am thinking you will be offered a cashiers check for more than you sold it for; just refund part of the "extra money".
Cars which appreciate in value need to be something special , something which people put pictures on the wall, something they LOOKED at on the showroom floor but were to poor to even sit in it. Trust me on this, no one had pictures of a four door Dart on their wall except maybe for that guy in Mexico .

Thanks for the history lesson and scam warning but I don't believe this is my first rodeo, I do this kind of sh_t for a living dealing in used equipment. I think I will do just fine on the Dart and the 928 will be a very happy benificary. For you and I it might sound crazy to spend 3K on a car like that, but people do it everyday on all sorts of old cars in good condition of any make or type.

I ran across this old thread and see I did not post the ending. The original Ebayer did not come through so I listed it again. Ended with a very nice profit that went to the SC install on the 928. Believe it or not I kind of miss the car, it was a lot of fun to drive an old car that is so solid. I delievered it to the guy that bought it and he was very happy, and so is the 928.

I had one also- they have no brakes, try to keep a good distance around you. Drove it all winter with a bypassed heater core only to find out later you can change them in under 1/2 hour- dumb. It'll run forever.

Default Darts sister

Didn't realize so many Mopar guys here. Here is the sister to the Dart. 63 valiant. Occupies the garage next to the 928. Found this a few years ago in a quanset with 30k miles on it with 1965 bias plys intact - but not for $900! Has to rescue it. This is as simple as it gets. 225 with 3 in the tree, power nothing, doesn't even have windshield washers. Other than new tires/wheels and a bit of TLC not much else done to it.

Many of these older cars are attracting interest, even wagons being restored and collectible.

Nice, I can live without PB, windows, AC etc. but I did like the power steering on the Dart. I think it had to be one of the first years.

Yes, my brother owns a repair shop and is into this vintage - especially early barracudas and the first thing he does is convert to power steering if it doesn't have it. When he is looking for these cars, power steering is big plus as it is expensive (relatively speaking) conversion. The manual steering and manual drum brakes are interesting manhandle to say the least.

My kids are learning to drive 3 in the tree first - everyone should know how to drive a 3 in the tree! Then they graduate to the 5sp 928. All under my direct supervision of course.
