Yes, I have been thinking about selling mine, but it is such a nice car that I want to make sure that it goes to the right home.

If anything ever happens to me I want this on record. If anything ever happends to me, my 928 goes to the ocic, to be stored in a warm garage and put on display if deemed high enough quality.

Do you have a specific case in mind or are you just pondering?

Sterling,
Please put me in your will for the car and I will take care of your car and promise not to bad mouth you as the PO.

Really not a bad idea. With the very few 928's I've seen in the Mid-South their condition runs on the poor side...

I have to agree, and when someone decides to send several nasty PM's to a member because they voiced their opinion is in very poor taste.

I see it differently. I've sold amazing cars.before, only to find the new owner destroyed the car right after getting it from me. Once I went to a shop and saw my pristine 20k mile Benz sold a year earlier, with its shock towers pushing through the top of the fenders. Drunkard had driven into a ditch.

I pays my money, I drives my car. Nobody's f-ing business how. If I choose to destroy it, that is my own bloody business.

<edit: I, and DR, and Sterling, and Doc, and every other reader out here, had the full opportunity to buy this car if we had wanted it. But we didn't. Someone else did, paid his hard-earned dollars, and I'm sure didn't intentionally kill this car. I think of it from his perspective, he paid a.butt-load of money and now he has a problem>

While it is often not something that we would like to see, the car belongs to the person that paid for it.
And it is theirs to do with as they please.

Sterling - You mean you're not planning on being buried in it? Those Champagne 12-way power sports seats gotta be mighty comfy...

Ahhh it's just a car. I couldn't care less what the new owner does to it.

I wonder how many PMs (and calls to IB asking for banning) would have ensued if anyone had posted this comment below in any of Sterling's Threads about his engine being blown-up or other similar issues that most of all us go thru when doing new things...especially having ZERO first hand knowledge of the situation.

"You've managed to botch it up this badly this quickly and based on your posts and your decisions it will only go downhill from here."

Could you imagine the hissy fit that would have happened??? My god it would have been a blood bath.

I think everyone needs to sit back and think, do we really want to become the "elitist 911 stereotypes" that so many 928ers have complained about for decades. We were always so proud that we were a close knit 928 community that always supported each other and never acted or pretended any one was better than the other...it is so sad to watch this train wreck happening in slow motion right before my eyes.

IHMO, the "modified 928s" like Sterlings or even my ex-Euro are the last ones that need to be, or even deserve to be, "preserved"... It is the pure unadulterated examples, like Jarod's GT and may others like that that deserve to be preserved...those are the ones that are the examples of what is great about the 928. The ones that have been modded to death are just visions of that particular individual owner, no matter how cool the mods of such 928s, they are NOT the true vision of the real 928 that should be "preserved" and that brings us all together...or certainly did at some point.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Dave, you must be new here.

Lots of us have given Sterling **** on his car, and quite a few people (Abby included) have been less than nice towards his car, my car, everyones cars. And most do not resort to nasty PM's. Some have even gone so far as to have the mods remove comments because they got butthurt. It's not new.
