True, I was not thinking in boost mode.

No point in sending the car to DR if it can be fixed at home.
It needs to go to DR.

That was my initial recommendation to Stephen....but in talking with Greg I think he said he was buried at the moment....I recall some mumbling/cussing on the phone about currently having to fix some other mechanic's mess. :-)

Besides, I honestly can't wait to give it a full checkup and try to reduce it's trama from being referred to as a female so much lately :-)

Don't tell Stephen, but I think I am going to wax it with Testosterone cream while it is here...anyone know where to get that stuff?

I will be happy to do a leak down on for you David, if you want me to.
I just assumed you wanted it back at your shop.
The bottom line is this is a very custom car and no one knows this car like DR does.

I appreciate that, after talking with Stephen today, it makes more sense now to just bring it up here. I didn't know he was 2 hours from you, that is almost half the distance here for him.

Plus I honestly do want to go thru everything on it, it's been a while since I had my arm up it's....tailpipe...LOL

Thanks as always,

Dave

I do think it is the best thing for it to go back to you, but I wanted you and Stephen to know I would do that if you wanted me to.

I may be guilty of the ring idea becasue I mentioned it was something I had seen once, a broken ring in a stock engine that had some blowby.
It would have been more helpful of me to not have mentioned that.

Maybe the blowby is even not what it seems or is unrelated to the rings? I have no idea. It does sound like a vist to Greg or DR would be a good idea for the next step.

The most important thing is for Stephen to be able to hop in the car for a drive without any worries. Getting a bunch of power is easy, succesfully tackling all the side issues is the real project.

I live near Stephen and I have a spare garage and the tools to conduct a leakdown.

You are welcome to bring the car here.

With these facts " The car from the start had massive blow by. The setup has to be drained on a regular basis and there is a blow by setup for the exhaust into the headers. The bumper is black by the exhaust after a day of driving, 1/2hr to work and a 1/2hr home speed limit 45 the whole way. I usually drive at 50mph.

The car stalled and had blow by issues from day one..... I have put on 700 miles on the clock since I owned her!......

She drinks oil like water. 4 quarts in 3 hrs of driving. .... as long as I keep oil in her she drives just fine. ........."
Any engine which is drinking 4 quarts of oil in 3 hours (less than 200 miles) is in serious trouble. Porsche was replacing GTS engines under warranty for free for far less than that. The likely cause has to be broken rings, ring lands, scored cylinders which happened BEFORE Stephen bought it. Go back and read the posts and the car was KNOWN to have excessive blow bye (stated by an independant 928 mechanic) before he ever bought it.

I have been talking to Ed and DR and they both have been great. It is nice to make new 928 friends!

I am putting the car on a trailer tomorrow and it is being taken to NC to see DR!
I have worked out the details with DR and the car will be taken back to the way it came from the factory.

A new journey begins. It is a beautiful car and it will stay that way.

To all those that have lend a hand or offered one it has been greatly appreciated.

I will post photo's of the car when it is back in Ga.
