Default 82 Porsche 928's stolen

I'm not sure I'm reading the data correctly, but it looks like a total of about 82 928's have been stolen over whatever period of time nhtsa records them. Curiously the theft rate per production volume is actually above average.

Strange I don't get any 82 results only 83-95 with 88 being the biggest by rate - presumably number of thefts/number registered. And no 95 GTS ever stolen out 0f 77 registered

I guess the 85 was not coveted by car thieves either.

Only 4 reported stolen out of 2300. Interesting link though.

I wish someone would steal a couple of mine. It would save me the trouble of finding storage for them all.

If I read the OP's language corectly, he suggests that 82 is the quantity of 928's stolen. No relationship with the 1982 model-year 928.

How many were stolen again? nine-hundred and twenty-eight? grabs for slide-rule...

Most cars are stolen because their parts are valuable and in demand. 928s are too rare to have a large easy parts market to sell stuff without getting too much attention. Plus some of those "stolen" cars were no doubt fake claims to collect on insurance which happened more often than most people realize.

Most 928s have gun happy owners who are just itching to throw a few hot ***** of lead at someone dumb enough to play around with trying to start a 928 without a key..

Only one that would steal a 928 would be a thief that was looking for a 928. I think a 928 would confuse the casual car thief. Too many Hondas and Toyotas to steal.

I think the OP was suggesting the chart information was somewhat elusive, but indicated a total of 82 928's stolen over some unclear period of time.

Common reason cars are stolen, transportation. Somebody needs or wants to go someplace and lacks money or a car, so they steal a car and leave it.

Reason I googled it was I was thinking a 928 is very hard to steal without a key or a tow truck.

That is because you are not a car thief. If you are not concerned about breaking a few things it really would be quite easy if you know enough about 928s and own or can steal a slide hammer. And car theft is a big business not just a casual joyride or transportation. Most recent numbers ..."
According to the 2009 Crime Statistics report, out of the 794,616 vehicles stolen that year, only 343,274 vehicles (43.2 percent) were recovered." Pretty much means it is pros stealing most cars.
