Likely all the good stuff is long gone and the junk is left. I am sure there is usable stuff but by the time someone puts out 10K it might take 10 years to get your money back. Looks like a few grand might be a reasonable offer for someone who is in the business.

I'd be curious how this person ended up with it, probably the owner of the yard or bldg and this was left in lieu of rent. The next question is the price of scrap and how far from the smelter this stuff is, i.e., price of scrap minus transportation costs = profit or loss.

Seeing how this stuff is stored is no surprise to me, I tried a couple of purchases from him and he screwed me.

He offered it to 928sRus about a month ago. Appraised the pile of gold at $100k and wanted $50k if I took it as a job lot. First time on eBay was $50k.
If he paid me $5k I might consider going and getting some of it.
It is all the parts that did not sell so a heap of junk.

Are those "new" camshafts and pistons really new, or just the ones that look better than the rest? I can't picture a scenario where Mason would have gotten costly new pieces...
In the highly unlikely case he did, he removed them from the packaging?
Whoever put together the inventory list did a lot of work in identifying parts and noting year. So, it may be a 928er. I remember at one point that "PotsieWebber" with the salvaged GTS said he was going to buy Mason's old inventory.

There was a thread/discussion long ago by Mason asking about how to refurb pistons. He was blasting/scraping/sanding them to make them look new. That process also included digging carbon out the ring grooves with broken/used rings and 'cleaning off' the skirt coatings. If these truly are from his collection, the pistons that look the cleanest are the ones least likely to last more than a few minutes in a running engine.
I'm with Greg -- The bucket of used bolts looks interesting.

Pottsie Webber bought all of that crap from Mason. The poor guy thought he was buying Mason's business and quickly realized he didn't buy anything but a pile of junk and a bunch of ill will from the 928 community. Mason did the 928 world such a dis-service by destroying so many cars. He would buy a euro or a 5 liter car and then take the engine apart becasue he thought he would make more money selling the pistons seperately from the crank etc. He ruined so many desireable parts and cars. What a douchebag. By the way, some of you might find this funny. Mason was recently working on a jetski and it "blew up in his face". He looks like the Wiley Coyote after an Acme rocket blew up in his face. LOL This is the universe getting back at him for ruining all those 928 parts.
