Default The jose to nowhere?? Please help identify.

Hello all,

Happy Wednesday!
I am having the front bumper repainted (rock chips).
Upon the removal I discovered a hose (about 2" in diameter) that went from the bottom of the car to nowhere. I am very, very green and would love some help in identifying what it is and where it needs to go. the last picture is the bracket it was on.

Quite important hose actually ... not just cooling the alt but, in the process, drawing ambient air past the sensor so it can inform the A/C controller of outside temp. Not getting a good air temp signal here is one of the mysterious 928 A/C vulnerabilities, so you have two good reasons to connect it back up.

And the other end attaches to the plastic shroud on the back of the alternator. If it's still there after 17 years.

Thanks again. Just to confirm; is the euro headlight the same as the fog lights in the bumper?

"The Jose to Nowhere"... wasn't that an old B-grade western movie?

sorry i was'nt clear, my bad, the wire is under the lights on my car (84 euro) on the passenger side. i can only assume that your cars wiring is routed the same as mine, but i could be wrong...but it should be on your drivers side by the indicators etc hope this is clearer.

Just to clarify - Maybach Man has a RHD car, so he means "Driver's side" to you LHD people

The sensor end of the hose forms an inverted U-shape held in place against the plastic panel with the W-shaped bracket pictured earlier in the thread. The exposed end of the "U" points down and sucks rock-free air to cool the alternator and provide the AC sensor signal.

Screwing it into place can be a bitch the first time - its easier to remove the headlight and reach in through that opening (at least with H4's - don't know about the US sealed beam jobbies).

This is how I remounted mine, with new hose.

You will find many items on replacement hose - check with Roger Tyson at 928srus.

I got it. I understand how and where this is supposed to work.
Thanks again everyone.
