Default I've just acquired my first Shark...

...some of you may already know me, as I've acquired some notoriety on the 944 board with my engine transplant project over there. Some of the folks over there don't realize that that particular car was one phone call away from going to a junkyard, and I plan on making the VR 944 as nice as this 928 before I'm done. Before you guys all suck the air out of the room with a collective (((GASP!))), rest assured that I plan to keep this car as close to stock as possible, barring a few minor upgrades to shocks (original equipment, completely shot) and suspension (urethane to replace the dry-rotted rubber bushings). She only has 50,000 original miles, all maintenance records, and is a five-speed '81 model, chiffon white exterior, cocoa interior, with original phonedials. I paid 5K for a car I first saw in Germany as a GI, in silver, on a night with a full moon at 2 am, walking home from the Gasthaus. Polizei watching from the shadows thought I was getting ready to break into the car, until I'd walked around it three times, and laughed when he realized it was love at first bite. I've wanted one ever since. Original paint and body is almost immaculate, interior is better than average for a 30 year old car; this one's been well taken care of, and garage-kept, but the last major maintenance was done about three years ago, and it has a few minor issues (many caused by not being driven regularly). (First things being replaced are the dreaded old fuel lines, brake fluid and hoses, rear main seal, shocks, and suspension bushings.) As much as I'm tempted (it's every bit as fun as I expected!), I'm not driving it again until at least the brake lines and fuel lines are replaced; there's a fuel smell near the rear of the vehicle, and I've already seen Ather's post about his poor beast going up in smoke...I've waited 30 years for this car, I really don't want this one to die.
In addition to a great car, for the purchase price, I was lucky enough to get: the original Owner's Manual w/warranty service records, the original Blaupunkt stereo unit, and a full set of 928 Porsche shop manuals in binders.

Curious - is your avatar a picture glorifying the Luftwaffe shooting down an allied forces aircraft?

It's actually a screenshot of me shooting down another player in an online game called Fighter Ace...not intended to "glorify" anything, actually. It was a great fight against a very skilled opponent. In that game, you had to pick a side, with the attendant aircraft. My squadron chose to fly for the GE (German) team, because although their aircraft had the best guns, they were also the most difficult to fly well and be successful in. Nuff said on that subject.

Thank you, sir...SO excited to actually own one of these cars...I've pinched myself several times, and keep looking in my driveway to see if it's really there.

LOL...the Sturmvogel (Stormbird) wasn't allowed online...too much whining from the Allied pilots! Although, now that you mention it, the 928 does sort of have the same lean profile...

Okay...this is about the only angle I can shoot the front, because of where it's parked...with the fuel smell, I'm afraid to even start it...because that guy Murphy is a boilerplate S.O.B.----and I've waited too long for this. Honestly, the car is overall in such good shape, I'd probably have had to pay at least half again what I paid to get one as nice, and the manuals are one hell of a bonus. Bought it from a friend with the FBI task force who has a Corvette monkey on his back...and needs space for his Corvettes in his garage. (He already has three (!)...)

More pics. I would rather see no pics at all than get teased like that. Congradulations.
