Awesome, another Nashville 928! Welcome to the tank, Tony. If you need another set of hands PM me. And if you need professional assistance Wicky Lawrie at Rentag Motorwerks (226-4928) is our one 928 guy.
If the smell is coming from the back it could be the fuel filter to fuel pump line. Those buggers use banjo connections and crush rings that leak easy. Easy to fix.
Also, I have a set of 1" spacers that you can have that will bring your rear wheels out. I put 8" phonedials on the back of mine but the stock 7" slotted rims looked good with the spacers. Just let me know.

Well, the Chifon car is beautiful. Makes much more sense than a 944 conversion. Perfect for the surrounding hills. Good luck with it. Time to enjoy it, not work on it. But do change fuel lines! Stay safe.

Looks like the dash has one of those plastic caps....when you can I would change that. Love the interior color.
Motor looks clean and the jump post cover is there so someone took care of it.
There is a single wire to power the seats that lies on the floor...it is easy to dislodge or corrode. The relays are in the passenger floor board foot well area.
Do any of your seat functions work?? If so then its a switch or track issue.

Thanks for the tip on the seat wire and the relays. Previous owner had no idea what the jump post was for.

They're over on Polk Ave. Here's the link to their website:
http://www.bgautotops.com/
They took a while to color match. But as mine is the same brown they should be able to skip that step.
Also, redoing the dash is not cheap. The guy to go to for that is Paul Champagne:

I got a dash cap like yours to cover the cracks until I can budget for a dash rebuild, just didn't glue it down so I can use the existing dash is a core exchange when the time comes. Yours looks like it warped in the heat, which they all do eventually. Another one is $120 or so on Ebay. Opinion here is justifiably mixed on the subject of dashcaps but I think they make a good transitional solution. A lot of things are more important than the dash but looking at those cracks can irk the crap out of you.

thats a nice looking car ,
swapping out the shocks will make the biggest improvement to the ride of the car,
keep the springs stock,
and swap out the lower BJs ,
a magnet will tell you if they need to be swapped
