Happy New Year!
Here's some pictures of the Wilwood conversion on my '85, the comparison was with another '85, stock brakes. The braking is pretty impressive, very easy to modulate, it can lock up the brakes at 60!
Thanks again Rob,
Ed M

I understand, the statement was not a quantified measure of the upgrade but if you allow me an embellishment.....the bite is that strong! Shark Bite!
What other options are there to up grade an 85's brakes that don't cost $1500 plus?
My total cost for this upgrade with all new parts was about $600!

The rotors are Cayenne's, almost 14" versus 11 3/4". The $600 includes: 2 new Porsche Cayenne rotors, 2 new Wilwood 4 piston calipers with sport pads, and two new adapters. I kept the dust shields and the outside edge of the shield is what I'm touching on both pictures, one with the stock rotor and the other with the Cayennes.

Thats important to know...I can forget what I said earlier with that knowledge. Stock to stock..I was kinda concerned.

Sooooo - did you have to fabricate adapters to make this combo work or are these available to buy somehow? i'm actually interested in a better performance caliper on a stock rotor . . . is this a "give wilwood a call" question? i wouldn't be surprised if they made a caliper to replace those early 2-piston units - weren't they Bendix or ATE?

There are two options Rob's or Mark's conversion/adapters. Here are the threads.

(FYI-Page 22 and 25 have pictures of the different adapters.)

11 3/4", thats S4 rotors (actually near 12"), the S rotors are around 11". very tiny????
so , these are the 350mm rotors?
if you are concerned about cost, there is always the adapter I made to use the existing calipers.
this way, when its time to change rotors, the rotor cost is the same, no need for new calipers, its only the cost for the adapters and the centering rings.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
speedtoys, no concern for systems tha only use part of the outer rotor, its an advantage to keep the heat from the inner diameter that cooks the bearings.
Plus, all the "real racing systems" use a the same small area near the outer diameter of the rotors.

Nice. They fill those wheels up nicely as well. Those are 330 x 32 directional rotors. Besides being bigger than the GTS rotors, WAY less expensive. You don't have to swap suspension components either. And forged alloy calipers was a no-brainer. Hey Ed, I never weighed the steel S caliper and was curious what it is?

Sweet Job. Thanks for sharing this info. This is a very good upgrade the larger rotors also provide more mechanical leverage for better braking power and control . ((but we all knew that)).
