Dash climate control temp sensor removal
The bezel is cracked and I want to replace with new unit. I can't figure out how to get it out. Anybody has an advice?
Thanks
Michel.

You have to pull the center console to get to it, or at least detach it from the dash. It's a separate piece from the sensor, but attached with two zip ties just behind the console. I'd just buy the replacement stick on cover for it from Nicole.

Here's a pic of the zip-ties Sean is talking about. Those zip ties go over a plastic collar to hold it tight--and, are what makes it a PITA.

I see so many cracked ones I'm convinced it's because people have tried to remove them without pulling centre console! Often seem to have chunks broken around edge, making me think someone's tried to pry it out.
Is the cabin temp sensor and its fan motor working properly? That could justify removing console anyway. How about all the hvac actuators?

I'd also suggest the sensor cap that Nicole offers on her website:

Oddly enough, that picture is of my car when I covered my cracked/chipped sensor back in April of 2002 : Jager was selling them at the time. I had posted a quick write up for the interweb, and that was one of the photos that got posted on their site. The cap is still in place and looking great. Took all of about 5 minutes to install (and didn't require pulling any parts)

If you grind or sand down the original a little bit, the cover will fit flush and look better than the real deal... and it's powdercoated metal, so it'll last forever.

To the OP, because you're in Canada, I don't know if it's better to order within country, but there's Jager Eng. BTW, the plastic and wood caps are ~$20.

It's just that I already have the replacement part! I'll have a second look at it and consider capping it.
I do have a PO Box in US. Shipping isn't an issue.
Thanks
Michel.
