What I thought was 16th inch material may only be about .040 thou, so I thought a little more thickness would be better so I made some out of that and some out of .092, or 3/32nds material. Here they are. I'll mail them in the morning.

I put them in the mail for you, Dean, this morning. They will probably be there Sat, or Tuesday, since Monday is the holiday. There are more than you might need, so pay them foreward if you like. Or, if you need even thicker ones or the 16th that I originally suggested, let me know and I'll make some more. It's kind of fun to do while the glue is drying on something else. I can also make them smaller if you need. Or Bigger?

Using 316ss fasteners with non metallic spacers as well is a good idea. If the plastic washers are too thick they may split when tightening which is probably why paper was used.
Years ago we used a zinc infused tape when joining dissimiler metals on mining equipment.

exactly what i was thinking about..
only issue is that you may have to sandwich the material between two peices of wood, etc.. to keep the material from twisting, etc...
