Just helping a friend post here. MY1979 US.

He took the car to get smogged. He passed smog test, but failed visual because of altered vacuum lines. Below are the photos of the lines. Any help is appreciated with regards to routing.

Thank Michael, my concern is why someone would do this in the first place. Though, I suppose, step one is getting it reconnected. And thoughts?

Reconnection was simple enough. Didn't notice any affect on the performance, but it makes me suspicious that the previous owner plugged these up in order to pass smog when he sold it to me. Of course that's jumping to conclusions.

Looks like he's missing another vacuum diaphram... not sure myself what it's for as my vacuum schematic is on my laptop at work. Do a search and I know it has been posted before.

My car is manual, if that's a different schematic at all. I don't see why it would be.

EC928NC--Do you have a photo of your pressure transducer? The connection of vacuum lines that is about 10" towards the front (from this diverter pic)?

Both DC Automotive and Automobile Atlanta have schematics on their catalog pages..79s are tough but they may be a good source of reference for mapping out the spaghetti there.

One of them is for the air pump line actuator, the other is for the carbon canister actuator. Figuring out which is which will be a pain, (it was on my S4), because those vacuum lines lead to underneath the manifold.

Just my two cents, while your in there replace those old braided hoses with silicone, that will save you issues now and in the near future....

The braided lines are from my car, and yep... I know you're right... but right now, my old braided OEM lines are working just fine... well, better than Michael and his brother's... Until I'm ready to do a spider refresh, I'm not messing with it.

I can post here all by myself, and I have been posting. Michael just beat me to it really. I wanted to make a thorough search of the forum before I jumped to posting something that might be old news.

Well, I reconnected everything, my silicone hoses still seem to be in good shape. I'm going to take it back for smog unless you guys have any other advice. Thanks for all the help so far.
