Curt, you know my weakness! I'd LOVE a 360 Spider F1!!!! YUMMY! I don't know about cost of work on the 360's, but the guy here in town that works on a lot of the F-cars charges and arm and a leg for work on the 348's and 512's I have seen in his shop!!! I mean BIG MONEY!!! I don't think I have ever heard of one of those guys getting out for less than $10k... that said, I have no idea what he was doing to the cars but the engines were ALWAYS out of them!

AMEN!!! Very well put! I have told my various track students that over the years! Sure it is great to have a 996TT! They are super fast and can be really fun, but when you finally start to push the car you will eventually lose it before you get really good with it. When that happens in a 996TT you will be going SO FAST the chances of serious damage to the car and the driver and other drivers goes through the roof! If you instead save your money and get an old 914 or early 911 and learn to drive THAT FAST, the adrenalin rush you get will have you hooked on driving an old slow car as fast as it will go!!!

I agree with my boy Jon on this one! In that price range you can get a REALLY SWEET 996TT! That would be the ONLY P-car (other than a 997TT! ;-) That I would even THINK about giving up a GTS for, and I'd only do that if I had a SECOND GTS to keep!

I have a 85 308 QV with 20k miles. It's been alot of fun and no surprises. 5k every 5 yrs for the major service. With Ferrari, the big bills come with engine out service ( $10k). That's one reason why Testarossa and 355s are so cheap. Beautiful cars with big maintenance costs. At least with a 512bb you may recoup the cost in future appreciation (still engine out 10k every 5 yrs.). Look at 246 Dinos. Beautiful, cheap to maintain and appreciating.

My list:
928
308
930 Turbo
Alfa spider

Looking to add:
Esprit series 2
246 Dino ( can't afford)
512 BBi (can't afford )

Its all about childhood dreams

No way man, get a C4, that way you can be treated with disdain by both the Corvette crowd and the Porsche folks.

Unless you roll up in a 96 GrandSport or ZR1, those still command attention at the Corvette Corral at Road America.

I love Panteras. It wasn't that long ago that they were actually fairly affordable. I like the idea of a Chevy powered Pantera, but surely that's sacrilegious in that community?

One of the top Pantera tuner / shop is (or was) located in Tewksbury, MA. A friend was having some work done on his Pantera there, and I went along with him to pick up the car. The shop didn't look like much, but owner showed me a 1000HP twin turbo car that he had built, and that was almost 10 years ago. That car was incredible!

Late model 928 with a stroker and keep it otherwise stock, except for a little Champagne leather work.

Deff thought of a Pantera and love them. Got to sit in one two weeks ago and was sad to see that I can't fit very well at all. If I did, it would be high on my list.

Panteras are really neat cars. I had one years ago with a GT5 look and a stroker motor with TWM throttle bodies in place of the carb and Haltech engine management. Fitting is a little difficult. I am just over 6' and I would hit my knee every time I tried to go to first gear or reverse.
Was not as agile as the 308, but it had wide wheels on it.
