Default "New" 340mm Steering Wheel

back in 2002 I bought a 340mm TechArt steering wheel, customized to match my 993. When I parted with that car I ended up keeping the main wheel along with a new Attiwe airbag( they are the same) in order to install it on the 928.

On advise from Jim Morton, I got the 964 steering hub from Gert at Carnewal.com
I then sent the new airbag to Paul Champagne to wrap it with leather and do his handy work on it!

So this past week the wheel is mounted. It looks really great, feels fantastic and most importantly does not obstruct the instruments. For tall guys, its a must!

Danny:

Good karma with the 340mm wheel ! Some of my best Porsche memories surround getting the 340mm Techart.

When I did a SW on my GTS, I ended up with a FVD Atiwe as I was unable to reach our "contact" at Techart.

Good stuff !

Thanks Jim for the advise! you made it happen for me and it allowed me to keep this wheel. As with you , some of the best Porsche memories surround this wheel and knowing I can transition it to the 928 made it a tad easier to part with my cabrio.

Sweet wheel. What's the electrical doo-dad (blue light special) mounted on center consol next to your right knee?

Love it!!

Can you shoot more pics of the hub, etc.

I'd like to do this on the GTS some day as I don't want to ditch the airbag.

Is the Hub done in Leather as well?

That's a good fit Danny,

by the way, for those wondering, these things are really difficult to photograph, especially the engraving. But the crest on this wheel actually looks like this:

Thanks again Danny

Chuck,

from the factory, the hubs from the Raid wheels are not covered in leather. But it can be done:

Follow this link to learn more about these great wheels and my personal way of covering them:
