Mirlene, love your neck of the woods, especially this time of year!
Very nice! That's quite a pair...how will you ever decide which one to drive?!

To be honest I've never understood the appeal of Miami from a tourist perspective but I do realize how fortunate we are to have warm weather year-round. You guys up north get to see the seasons change though which is amazing!

Gary Welcome! Our Shark family here is indeed growing!

Colin, from the look of the license plate holder this is another Japanese 928 and you know what that means! Its going to be a fun project!!!
Gary was this for sale in Kelowna at a used car dealer this summer?

The inspiration for the intake was from your great post on your '87 intake refresh, so thanks again.

Not familiar with the WYIT acronym?

What determines a Japanese 928, and are there issues?
I bought it privately in Kelowna, so don't know if it was at a dealership.

As John Speake points out, While You're In There. WYIT,

It is likely a japanese car because of the lack of rear side marker lens. The VIN will start with WPOZZZ if it is. But that is not to say that it isnt a european car either.

The problem with the japanese cars is not the cars, but rather the repairs that they have had to endure over their years there. That and much more time spent idling in stop/go traffic.
I have worked on many ex japanese 928s, and they do typically need a little more to bring them up to spec.....

One of the nicer problems to have to be sure! The initial intent was to eventually end up with a '95, but the more time you spend with them, the tougher it is to let them go.

That is the start of the VIN. Is there a way to tell from the VIN where it was originally destined?

Erkka (villhuer) might know as he seems to have a knack for those things. But past that I am not sure.

I just get them running like stock, or faster, and make go fast goodies!

Although, what language is your digital cluster in?

I'm going to have to have a look at those goodies!

Digital cluster is in English.

Yes, the ZZZ signifies ROW production, so its a Euro model destined for Japan.
Porsche vehicles destined for NA do not have ZZZ and the chart below explains how Porsche VIN codes work:
http://p-car.com/vin.html

When I was looking in April/May/June for my 928, I came across what I presume its your car. The dealer/broker was Target Auto Sales in Kelowna http://www.targetautosales.ca/stock.html
It was a 1990, identical color to yours and from Japan, that is why I'm pretty sure about it.
I called them and asked them if they were open for PPI's and they were. They said that the 'car needs nothing" LOL!
In my limited and very recent experience with Japanese bound 928's it looks like because they spend a lot of time in traffic and in warm conditions, in my case, we needed to replace literally ALL the hoses/ rubber items in the engine, fuel lines etc. Most of the plastic was crumbling on all the connections including the engine harness which we will also do.
At the same time it looks like these cars receive proper care, dont see a lot of rain/snow and usually are garaged which pays dividends in the exterior condition. The came cant be said about Japanese technicians for some weird reason! Improper electrical connections ( read hack jobs) are what I saw and from what people have told me its the norm with these cars.
Otherwise in my case the car is very solid and I could not be happier with it. So i think in your case its just addressing the hoses, connections etc from the get go for piece of mind. Not a very big issue when you consider the savings on the purchase price of the car and the end result...

Danny,

The WPOZZZ was for all ROW cars, not just those for the japanese market.

It is more likely to be a jap car because they are cheap. But that is not 100% certain.

Yes I agree. Reading my post I did not express myself correctly. I meant to say that his car is a ROW car and was sold in Japan.
The other dead giveaway on this picture is the rear license plate holder which is identical to mine. They are larger than the NA plates as the Japanese plates are large squares.

They are made out of heavy steel these suckers and you got to re drill them to line up the holes for our plates.
