Default Inside Rear View Mirror

The other day my inside rear view mirror decided that it didn't like me looking at it any more so it tried to leap out of the car.
It was in never great shape and interesting how the sun has
cooked the plastic housing and left it brittle to the point I can put finger through it in places.
I have been looking at Amazon, the threads here and now left what to buy. OEM or aftermarket, any suggestions.

Two side mirrors I don't think we are legally required to have an interior rear view mirror, and I LIKE the open front windshield without a mirror, but that went no place with my wife. Good used mirror is not easy to find (sun rot, day/night gets loose), new one is I think $84 from the usual vendors, but $100 can buy a pretty fancy modern mirror. A search should turn up some threads.

Get a Donnelly or Gentex auto dim mirror.

If you like you can get map lights, compass, temp sensors etc

You will have to remove the Porsche tab and glue a new one on

Get one of these off E-bay. Love it.

Bought mine from Gary Knox here on R-list. If I recall, it is for a Mazda but don't know what model, you can find them using google image search.

IMHO
Favorite Option Autodim
2nd built in garage opener (much better range too)
3rd Compass
4th Mood light
5th Temp

I'm not a van of the V-1 display. Reason being, I like to have the remote display down low where cars from behind can't see it.

following are a few "Texas" examples:

Here is one for $40 with harness:

Thanks everyone, I drove down to Paso Robles and back up Hwy 1 thru Big Sur without the RVM
and I have to admit I didn't miss all that much and the clear field is nice to have.
Mirrors with electronics, ie: dimming lights, compass all require wiring to something I would imagine as I doubt that they have a replaceable battery or am I wrong?
