... During my teens, one of my neighbors' boys got a such kit. He put it together with great pride, and showed it to me when it was done. As I held it in my hand and turned it upside down, I wondered why the underside was painted in skin color.
I asked him about it, and he said the instructions said it should be "body color". He didn't know at the time that the English word "body" is not limited to the human body....
Hmmm ... I could make probability based assumptions b/c it was Stuttgart but was he white, black or asian?
Tamiya also made a 928 OB with the pasha interior. So it was an oversight or tool saving thing when they released the 928S.

Tamiya did a lot of great things in terms of bringing the model and RC car hobby in to the mainstream (particularly in the late 70's and well into the 80's), but I don't think they have ever been accused of being particularly accurate.

I sure spent a whole chunk of my childhood money on the Tamiya models particularly the 1/35 military stuffs. Everytime I went to Hong Kong, I would buy a bunch of models, dump the boxes, cut out all the parts from the trees, and stuff them in the suitcases. I would end up with a bunch of small bags of model parts and I never touched them again. In mid 80's, the Fujimi and Hasegawa made better car models than the Tamiya, and I know I have a Fujimi 1/24 928S4 sitting some where in the garage. This Fujimi is not particularly good so I never care much about it but at least it is a 928.

I have never seen that one, but I have a "Rally Porsche" kit that I found at a Autojumble. 80's Extravaganza! I wonder how long that front spoiler would last on a rally course
