My corvette is stock, I just upgraded the AIR pump and rerouted the pump exhaust.

This is true. Like most rice burners, you really have to wind them up to get anywhere.

I was out at our local lordco and two of the counter guys were talking about one of their turboed honda civics pushing 400whp.
I laughed and said I have over 400, with equal torque. He said, "Yeah, I wish I had torque"

Often HP and RWHP get freely substituted in conversation, not an easy delusion to correct.

I have the best of both worlds. My 1982 928 and my 05 g35 (same as a 350z with back seat) with a roots blower that thing is a torque monster for a high reving v6.

I just traded in my 370Z (VQ37) for a 2003 996 turbo. After full exhaust modification, some K&N filters and dialing in a tune on a dyno my full HP gain for the 370Z was 44HP and 28 torque. The car was strictly NA so I think the 350Z would require some fairly extensive modification (possibly FI) to reach +400.

And yeah, I really prefer the 996 turbo……..life is good!

Ever seen that bumper sticker that says, "My lug nuts have more torque than your Honda"? I respect all cars, Hondas included, but it did make me laugh!

There's no 'possibly' about it. Stock 350z had between 287-305 crank HP depending on the year. No way to get close to 400RWHP with bolt-ons and a tune without FI.

I think the 350Z has one of the best exhaust tones in the mass production car market.

Yes just because when DATSUN used carburators back in late sixties Porsche used the KUGELFISHER In their911s along with the L jetronic in the 914, It should be fare to compare the DATSUN with the new 4l 911
500hp.

Actually, I was comparing my 21 year old 928 equipped with LH jetronic batch fire injection to a new 350Z with sequential fuel injection. It is true, the 928 had a 1.5 liter displacement advantage. I was not aware that they were still referring to 350Z's as DATSUNs

So this is .5 L more then the OP and 1L less then ours.
I would say the HP comes from efficiency in cylinder/head/intake configuration, compression or boost, cams and yes a more efficient brain. IMHO

Oh ya lots more Rrrrrrzzz which Greg is working on

It's gotta be in the torques, and well ur 928 would pass that thing like its standing still because of ur weight, but still , 928 s4 is best !
