Pulled into get gas and put it in and shifted it out of gear, filled the car and when I went to put it in first to no go. Crap the ballcup had come off. Pulled the shift boot and the rubber inder it and finally worked it into 3rd gear so I could get home. Put the car up in the air and worked the cup over the ball, went on way to easy, the plastic lining was gone. So I put a large hose clap over the threaded portion and around the TQ tube, as a temporary solution. Took it out for a test drive in the neighborhood and it shifted fine, for two gears. then nothing again. Found the metal part of the cup about 60 feet behind the car, it broke off at the weld. Parts are on order was suprised how much it was but then again I think the last time I purchased on was a decade ago. Getting the nut loose so I can back out the threaded section looks like a PIA, very little room to work a wrench. I have taped over the threads so I can match the distance when I put the new part it. Any suggestions as to go about get the nut loose from the front of the forward rod. Other than having an additional elbow between my wrist and elbow.

If you are driving and lose the front shift cup:
Grab the shifter at the **** and at the bottom, as low as possible.
Hold the bottom centered, and move the **** side-to-side until you think that you are in the 2nd-3rd gear slot.
Shove the **** and bottom forward and hope that you feel the shift into 3rd gear.
Drive home in 3rd. It is low enough to get rolling with minor clutch slippage, and high enough to drive at a reasonable speed for a short distance.
If you are more than twenty miles from home, or are in stop-and-go traffic, reconsider your options...
