I replaced 32, 34, 35, 36 and 37. It was not expensive, and is good peace of mind. Remember that unfiltered oil goes down here, and my sender was plugged up and did not work properly sometimes.

2 Bar fully hot seems normal to me - I don't think it was a big issue really.

Depends on the oil you use somewhat and obviously other issues can make it worse too, but as long as it stays at or above 2 bar hot I think you are OK.

The last sending unit I purchased included items 31, 32, 34, 35 and 37. Since #36 has to come out to install this, should it always be changed, also, when replacing a sending unit?

Part 36 seems like a wear item. I've replaced all the parts, as Dan describes, primarily because it wasn't obvious to me how it all worked , although, in my car, they are all still original, of course.

Is #36 the oil thermostat mentioned here?

Yes, together with springs 35 and 37. Don't know if it is needed to replace, but I replaced it for peace of mind, and it's not expensive.

Okay, here is a more accurate picture of my gauges. Drove around for couple of hours today to see if the LH brain Jim sent would fry the ST PEM like mine, so far so good. The pic is from pulling into garage at end of hour long spirited driving around town.

Realized camera on phone is on left corner of phone. To get more accurate had to center camera lens on center of dash.
